Darren Fisher (2454 KP) rated Sandinista! by The Clash in Music
Dec 11, 2020 (Updated Jan 15, 2021)
'Music For People Who Work On For Oil Rigs'
At a time when only prog-rock groups released triple albums, The Clash went out on a limb, providing a multicultural mish-mash of musical styles. Ranging from dub reggae, funk, jazz, disco, rap and even gospel, this 36 track sprawling epic covered all the musical bases. Often compared as their equivalent of The Beatles 'White' album, Sandinista! finds The Clash at their most experimental. Featuring a vast range of guest artists from dub maestro Mikey Dread, Ellen Foley and various members of The 101ers, The Blockheads, Eddie & The Hot Rods, The Voidoids and Darts(!?!) this really is a melting pot of ideas and influences.
Sandinista! can be a tough call if you decide to listen to it from start to finish, clocking in at around the 2hr 20mins mark, but I would recommend doing this on the first listen. It sets a trippy, mesmerising, and (albeit) uneven journey of a group realising there is a much bigger world out there than just London.
One critic described the album as 'music for people who work on oil rigs'. I like that...

A great ball of cheese
I love musicals as much as the next man, this isn't a great musical but it is a good film, stellar performances by all the main cast good toe tapping songs if maybe a little disneyesque in parts ,it maybe let down in small parts by Hugh jackman trying to play a younger P.T. Barnam as a much younger man than jackman's age it felt weird jackman asking his girlfriend's father "can I marry your daughter" but all-in-all it's a good film

Movie Metropolis (309 KP) rated Bridesmaids (2011) in Movies
Jun 10, 2019
I’m not ashamed to say that I think Bridesmaids is one of the funniest films ever made. The very talented Paul Feig took an incredible ensemble cast and threw them together with such hilarity, it made my ribs hurt. After the trials and tribulations of the movie itself, Bridesmaids culminates in a ridiculously over-the-top wedding orchestrated, to the dismay of Kristen Wiig’s Annie, by arch-nemesis Helen (Rose Byrne). It even features a glorious musical number by Wilson Phillips. What could be better?

Disney's deadpool
Ryan Reynolds returns in this PG re-imagining of deadpool 2 and without blood or cursing, you ask how could he manage?
Well he'll do it all, with the help of Fred Savage.
In this pg version, deadpool has kidnapped and taped Fred Savage to his bed in this Princess Bride style telling of deadpool 2, with 15-20 mins of new scenes, its worth watching this movie if only for the pure banter between fred and wade which includes a small musical number.
This movie was made to help the fight against cancer ?

Ultimate Classic
This musical is a masterclass in brilliance.
Performances that stand the test of time, Tim Curry (my claim to fame is that my mother in law once had relations with him )delivers a performance that is impossible to forget.
Meatloaf is out of this world with his song and in my opinion no one on stage has ever come close to matching how he effortlessly owns Whatever Happened to Saturday Night.
If you haven’t seen this film yet then do not waste another second.

A far cry from being an impersonation or a caricature, Taron Egerton delivers an astonishing full-bodied performance who is clearly in his element paying homage to this musical great, whether it be the display of sheer showmanship or searing emotion. The pain that lingers behind those eyes and spills into the delivery of its songs, you can’t help but hang off every lyric he utters. In one sequence, director Fletcher poignantly pans over the rainbow that dominates his hat and it is the perfect metaphor to beautifully display his character trajectory, both personally and professionally.

Shrek-tastic fun
Found this gem whilst browsing online, I was surprised I hadn't heard of it being a fan of the franchise so was eager to give it a look.
based on the 2001 DreamWorks Animation film Shrek and featuring elements of sequels Shrek 2, Shrek Forever After and William Steig's 1990 book Shrek! This is a brilliant performance by both cast, crew and musicians with wonderful set colours & designs, really catchy musical numbers classic lines & some subtle adult jokes.
The runtime is a little over 2 hours which is more that enough to enjoy.
