Dean (6926 KP) rated Ginger Snaps Back - The Beginning (2004) in Movies
May 5, 2019
The 3rd installment of the series but a prequel with a period setting. Set in 19th century Canada it shows the origins of the curse. A nice idea and good that the same 2 actresses are used in all films. It reminded me a bit of the 4th Tremors film that also acted as a prequel. However the first film is much better with an edgy modern day setting. Ok as werewolf films go, the costumes for them are pretty cool, but overall the film was fairly average.

This is the second book in this series by this author. This is a nice romance story with added drama and mystery thrown into the mix. I really loved the characters, they have fab chemistry between them. This is a good contemporary romance read. this book will keep a hold of you and keep you reading till the end. I can't wait to read more in this series and by this author again in the future.

Dean (6926 KP) rated Brightburn (2019) in Movies
Jun 10, 2019 (Updated Jun 10, 2019)
Evil Superman
This had a good premise, what if a person from another world arrived here with superpowers... But was evil. There are quite a few nods and scenes that will remind you of Superman. Clearly the inspiration for this film. It's definitely something original to have a horror like this. It is quite gory in places, fairly creepy but not scary. You'll find it fun if you fancy a horror film with a twist. Although it still left quite a lot of ideas to be explored.

Good stunts (1 more)
Quite funny
Surprisingly good
I thought the worst when I first saw this film was being made about the 70's cop show. I never saw the TV series but often these films are a let down.
So it was a nice surprise this was actually quite funny, had some good action scenes and felt like it had a decent budget. Nothing amazing but good enough for a nights viewing. Starring and Directed by Dax Shepard with a role for his wife Kristen Bell as well.

Dean (6926 KP) rated The Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018) in Movies

Awesome sets, Sfx. Really has a grand scale feel to it. (1 more)
Some great action scenes and neat twists
The best Maze Runner film!
This is definitely the best of the 3 films. I thought the first was ok and the second one very average. This however is very entertaining with some great action scenes. The grand scale of the film looks very impressive from the locations and Sfx. The storyline has some nice twists and turns as well. I've not read the books, so can't compare. Overall a solid ending to the franchise.
Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Marmalade Martini in Books

An excellent debut novel. The story had a nice flow and the characters were very believable. I really enjoyed the way the story developed with some twists and turns just like in real life. Jamie is a little like all of us, or if you are one of those perfect people you have a friend like her. She deserves to have good things happen to her and you are overjoyed when it does. You also want to punch anyone who mistreats her. I hope to see a follow up novel soon.
Erika (17788 KP) rated Crimson Peak (2015) in Movies
Jun 14, 2018
I feel kind of bad for Crimson Peak, for one, it was marketed completely wrong. Universal marketed it as though it was a horror movie, when it couldn't really be farther from it. The inspiration for it was Rebecca and the Mysteries of Udolpho, it was a gothic romance. I liked Tom Hiddleston and Mia Wasikowska in it, but Jessica Chastain... I have nothing nice to say about her performance.
The twist was.... creepy. I can't help but wonder what the film would have been like if Benedict Cumberbatch hadn't dropped out.

At the moment this is my entire life!
It's actually a lot of fun. The game has kept up with having new events, quests and challenges every few weeks to keep everyone interested and playing.
I know there was a lot of hype when it first came out, then a lot of people stopped, but it's actually really good.
Doing raids you meet new people and I have met a lot of nice folks out there. Looking forward to Larvitar Community Day this Saturday!

Animal Defenses by Mary Lindeen is a non-fiction book for early readers. This book is about how animals use their natural defenses that keep them safe. From rolling to a ball to spraying a nasty smell, animals are depicted with nice pictures and an illustration of their defense. The pictures are large and visually appealing, the animal species are varied the information is educational and the information is presented in a way that is easy to understand.

Lilyn G - Sci-Fi & Scary (91 KP) rated Amazon Kindle in Apps

I would go nuts without this app
I have a kindle paperwhite, and I frequently access kindle cloud reader, but this is how I access books when I'm on my phone. Between the three (plus my audible app), there's very little time I can't find a way to sneak a few pages in.
The Amazon Kindle app rarely messes up, keeps all my books nice and tidy, and I like the options to read in different colors rather than just black on white. (I'm a huge fan of white on black.)
