Lewis John Hatchett (23 KP) rated Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) in Movies

Underachiever
For a film called Godzilla, King of The Monsters, there wasn't much of Godzilla or most of the other Monsters.
The story was lackluster and the human characters served no purpose to the story other than to add a human element and an unnecessary subplot to a story that really didn't need them nor the subplot.
Had a nice generous amount of flights between Godzilla and the fellow monsters King Ghidorah, Mothrah and Rhodan but not enough to satisfy my own expectations.
An awesome story but need more Monsters than humans in it.

The parts with Fred Savage were delightful. (2 more)
I was able to take my daughter to see it.
Not boring
Nice Surprise
I went into the movie "blind", never having seen neither Deadpool movie. I had only seen the previews for them. My daughter has wanted to see both and this provided the perfect opportunity for that to happen. For me I love the Princess Bride so I very much enjoyed the Fred Savage parts. Watching this just made me want to watch the unaltered movies.
I agree it could have been a direct to DVD release, but what fun would that be?

Another film to file under "The trailer made it look good". In truth the idea wasn't so bad, a different version to War of the worlds would be one way to describe it. It had big ideas but unfortunately the CGI and acting didn't match the ambition. Some of the CGI for the aliens later on look more like an old Xbox game, and not on the 360! The story and script start to turn rather silly half way through. It made Skyline look rather good. Although it was nice to see Rachael Taylor back in a main stream film.

Well I spotted this was directed by Anna Paquin's brother and also had Stephen Moyer from True Blood on the cover, unfortunately they are not the main stars of the film. Rachel Blanchard of the TV series Clueless is the main lead.
This falls into the category of weird films, there isn't a lot of back story or explanation really into the why or what of what is going on. Reminded me a lot of Funny Games. Quite bloody and brutal, ok for a low budget film but a bit more plot would have be nice....and Anna Paquin!

Entertaining
Just in time for Halloween. This movie had good cinematography and some nice gore effects(probably not for kids). The acting was decent. The story was your the typical kids go to a haunted house attraction that turns out to be one big death trap run by some psychos. I was cheering the protagonist on throughout the whole movie as she lost friends one by one. The ending was a little, odd, but cool as it didn't do the typical sequel setup they do so often. Overall, for you horror movie/ halloween fans, this one is worth a watch!

I love this book so much. I remember it freaked me out when I was younger and it still provides some nice chills.
So, Rose (full name: Rosecleer) is a normal high school student until she starts having dreams that feature Nancy, a girl she barely knew but provided comfort to when it was really needed.
Several red herrings pop up as Rose tries to figure out why she is having these visions and also keeps herself from being run out of town when Nancy is discovered dead and several more girls disappear.

Print and play compatible (1 more)
Cheap and available anywhere
After you've seen a card once it loses any comedic value (5 more)
The game runs until it's not fun any more. Exhausting
Better, cheaper, more fun games are available
Lets your most unpleasant 'friends' be their worst selves, will scare off your nice ones
So incredibly awkward and exhausting with people you don't intimately know or who fall into ANY minority group
I've not seen a single play group not collectively agree to completely ignore certain rubbish cards that come up again and again
Shock humour covers a damp squib of a game
Ross (3284 KP) rated Before Watchmen: The Comedian in Books

Some interesting historical links
The Comedian's part of the pre-Watchmen series continues the link to actual historical events and people. Edward Blake, the Comedian, is a good friend of the Kennedy brothers and regularly helps them out in various ways. Blake is then sent to Vietnam, initially as a boost to morale for the US troops, but he soon embarks on a trademark campaign of terror across the jungle.
The overall story wasn't to my tastes, but some excellent artwork and nice historical links. Plus something of an origin story for his trademark smiley face logo.

Short Read
Captain Nike Alexander is in Afghanistan for one reason only - to use her pilot skills. She doesn’t have time for men, especially military men. Playing hard to get with Captain Gavin Jackson comes as naturally to Nike as flying one of her Apaches. But Gavin’s sexy-as-sin smile is making it harder and harder to say no. Nicely written short read, touches on the hardships of war and the tolls that this has on all involved. It would have been nice to tie up some of the unfinished parts touched upon throughout the book. The characters were very likeable!
Dean (6927 KP) rated Adulthood (2008) in Movies

A good follow up to the first film Kidulthood, set 6 years later with Sam being released from prison. It's not quite as dramatic as the first, but still a good film. Nice to see the majority of the same cast, made 3 years after the first, now looking a bit older. This film centers around Sam mainly. Some might find the slang a bit too quick, hard to understand......but a lot of young boys do sound like that in London! A good film dealing with revenge and growing up and showing that violence wont get you anywhere.
