Watched today wow abit on the long side which I didn’t mind yet again Tom cruise does it again with outlandish stunts that go over from the start to the end won’t give away to much of the plot here but the gangs all back once led by Ethan hunt with the addition of grace played by Hayley atwell nice addition to the team but back for second time since the first film is Henry czeny back as kitrich who actually has more to do this time overall good sequel looking forward to part 2 when ever it gets made due to the actors strike

Not What I Expected
I admit that I went into this drama expecting it to be a light, happy romp through Joseon-era Korea, with a nice romance and a fair bit of drama. Something to lift my spirits after watching a downer series the week before. This is not what I got.

Secret Healer is definitely more of a drama than a romance. Yes, the romance is there and it is important to the plot. Hell, it's even developed reasonably well. However, it is not the main focus of the story. Which, after a while, I appreciated because I didn't need the romance to keep me invested, the plot did that well enough.


The true focus of the plot is Yoon-hee, the princess, and the trials she has to overcome to be free of her curse. Without getting too spoiler-y, the villain, Hong-joo, does literally everything she can to make Yoon-hee fail. And Hong-joo is a legitimately engaging and terrifying villain; she has power, dozens of skilled swords-women under her command and control, and is ruthless to the point of cold-blooded murder. The dynamic between these two really carries the better part of the plot.


Yoon-hee's love interest, Jun, also has an interesting story-arc that is, thankfully, all his own. He comes into the story with his own baggage involving his relationships with his mother and half-brother that he needs to overcome. It is also really nice to see a couple that complements each other equally. They support each other and receive support in turn. In a sea of douchbags with money winning over nice, supportive guys, he is a breath of fresh air.


The other characters that pepper this drama provide just the right amount of flavor. They are, for the most part, well written and well realized by their actors. My personal favorite character was Yo-gwang, Yoon-hee's "bodyguard."


I would recommend this series to anyone desiring a well-written, well-acted story that has more going for it than a simple love story.

I was wondering how everyone feels about digital copies of movies, in particular the digital redeem code that you get when buying a Blu-ray. Personally, I find the whole system very frustrating.

Over the years, I've built up a nice little collection of these backup copies online using flixster video. I have the app on my iPhone and iPad, and although I've never really made much use of them, it's nice to know they're there if I ever do want to access them. I also used to have the flixster app on my NowTV streaming stick (a Roku based system, produced in conjunction with Sky TV), enabling me to fire up a movie quickly without having to hunt for the Blu-ray and load that up. Nice, I liked where this was all heading.

But then NowTV disallowed the flixster app from their boxes, presumably in favour of their own Sky store system. And then I bought a few Blu-ray's and tried to redeem the digital code, only to find that flixster wasn't supported, only Google Play. Luckily, I have a Google Play account, so I was able to still use it, but the point is I now have my digital movies in multiple locations.

Recently, my daughter wanted to own Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. The Blu-ray wasn't out yet, but it was available to buy and download, and Amazon we're offering it at a reduced price. So, now we also have another location where a purchased movie lives.

All of these companies seem to be so interested in restricting us to using their service, and only their service. To me, that makes life more difficult, when it should be getting easier. Instead, I now find it easier to just pickup a Blu-ray from the shelf, instead of trying to remember where My digital copy is located. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, maybe I'm using the wrong service altogether. Maybe there's a simpler way out there that I don't know about. Or maybe I'm just getting too old for technology these days! I don't know but I'm interested to hear what others think.

Very much agree. If you own the movie, you can do what you want with it, when you want. If you own digital, you are entirely at the whim of the studios which is what they want, but not good for you. What if Disney decides they don't want you to own the digital Beauty and the Beast any more? They can just yank it from you. Now stores like Best Buy are not even carrying DVDs at all their locations. It's a conspiracy!

I like them for the same reason I like ebooks...they are easy to store. We live in a small apt. so my massive library needs to have as small a footprint as possible.

Reading this on Scribd probably wasn't the best idea ever. Having to sit at my computer for god knows how many hours while I read all 800+ pages...

It started great, I loved Tatiana and her first meeting with Alexander...but then it went downhill from there when it turned out Alexander was the guy her sister had been seeing. It got progressively worse for me when she decided to end whatever blossoming thing they had as she felt she would break her sisters heart if she got together with him instead. This continued for almost half the book, which drove me mad--it was pretty repetative, especially considering it was set during the war and they might not live to see the end of it.

People changed over that time, lots of people died. I think one of my updates quite clearly captured this:

If anyone deserves Alexander it's you for still being the same person you were at the start of the book, the same person that Alexander fell in love with. I hope, beyond everything, that you break your promise so that he has a reason to call things off with your sister so you can be together!!!!" </blockquote>

The ups and downs every few % did my head in. One minute they were kissing and saying nice things and the next they were shouting and arguing with each other.

I thought it would improve after the halfway point when they finally leave Leningrad but it continued for another 10% or so. I was expecting them to do the deed and then be all nice and happy. And this was the case for a while. Eat, have sex. Swim, have sex. Wash up, have sex...Repetative once more.

By the 70% mark, after reading each page word for word--and after almost a month of reading--I just wanted it over with and skimmed the remaining 250 pages. I got the gist and though I was happy they got together in the end I can't say I'm interested in finishing the trilogy. Really, stupidly, long books are not for me.
