Daniel Boyd (1066 KP) rated Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017) in Movies
Jan 15, 2018 (Updated Jan 15, 2018)
Everything from the way that the film is structured to the more technical elements such as lighting and score, is absolutely flawless. This film's screenplay is one of the best I've ever seen play out onscreen and it is one of my favourite movies of 2017.
Elli H Burton (1288 KP) rated Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) in Movies
Dec 10, 2019
I was sceptical, being a HUGE fan of Jumanji. After they get to the tree house with a little shout out to Alan Parish (which i absolutely loved, melted my heart, felt like something so natural, to give a nod to the comedy legend Robin Williams.) It definitely didn't feel like an insult to the orginal, more like a tribute in a way. I glimspe into where Alan spent all those years.

ClareR (6054 KP) rated Death at the Sign of the Rook in Books
Nov 23, 2025
Death at the Sign of the Rook gives a nod to the Golden Age of Agatha Christie I think, with the murder set in a grand country house that’s fighting for survival, by turning part of it into a country hotel.
There are some very Christie-esque characters: an army major, a vicar, a dowager and of course, the sleuth with his sidekick (in the form of Jackson Brodie and DC Reggie Chase).
There’s art theft, people in disguise, secrets, lies and a truly awful Murder Mystery weekend! And Brodie can’t even get away because of the snowstorm!
This is everything I’d hoped for: funny, clever, fast-paced and immersive. I loved how it all came together at the end.
I can’t wait for the next instalment now!
