Movie Critics (823 KP) rated Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017) in Movies

Even the action doesn’t help to pick up the pace, as it lacks the grandness and imagination found in the original trilogy.

The historical aspects
Historical action doesn't get any better than this
Taking place in 16th century China, the movie follows the story of General Qi Jiguang (Wenzhuo Zhao) in his fight against the Wokou (Japanese Pirates) that were terrorizing the Chinese coast. Based on a true story.

This was the perfect mix of genres. The dystopian world that Burke creates was fantastic in a steampunk way. The fact that the characters are pirates adds yet another element. Both main characters, Rose and Miranda, are complex and the romantic tension between them is another element to this already complex plot.

Well written book with a great plot and characters. This book has action, romance, aliens and space pirates. Sara Baysinger is very imaginative, i love the Universe she created. The book can be slow going at times.....but so worth the read! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Netgalley.

One of my favorites out of the Pirates of the Caribbean series. The plot is interesting and the action scenes are well choreographed. There are a few dull bits and parts that I wasn’t entirely a fan of, but overall a great movie. Great casting and was pleasantly surprised to see some returning cast as well.
