Erika Kehlet (21 KP) rated Blue Labyrinth (Pendergast, #14) in Books
Feb 21, 2018
NOTE: If you haven't read anything in this series yet, Blue Labyrinth might not be the best place to start. There are returning characters from previous novels, and reading some of the earlier books (especially Relic, #1 in the series) will make this one even more enjoyable.
I love revisiting old friends and old places in this series, and the New York Museum of Natural History is by far my favorite place in Pendergasts New York. Blue Labyrinth opens with a dead body in the museum, and Margo Green called in to assist with the police investigation. Full of danger and Pendergast family drama, this installment moves along at an incredible pace, and is a great addition to the series.

MissCagey (2652 KP) rated A Bigger Splash (2016) in Movies

A somewhat odd movie which I kept watching as I wanted to see what happened but then when it ended it dawned on me that in actual fact nothing much did happen! It's beautifully filmed, the characters are quirky, there's suspense and a feeling that something or someone is about to crack but by the end I did feel that I'd watched two hours of not much, the time could have been greatly reduced. I didn't understand why Marianne didn't ask Paul whether he'd slept with Penelope and Paul did not ask Marianne whether she'd slept with Harry? Also the Police investigation was over within seconds despite two of the characters having injuries? Some things just weren't explained and didn't feel realistic.
Lee KM Pallatina (951 KP) rated Murder Mystery (2019) in Movies
Jun 17, 2019
Guess who?
Murder mystery is exactly that, a murder mystery. Sandler and Aniston co star in this comedy as a police officer who can't seem to pass his detectives exam and his wife, a hairdresser in need of a break. The couple go on a long awaited retreat but are offered a cruise ride by a rich stranger in place of a tour bus.
After accepting and meeting the other passengers on board, thing's quickly go south when one of them is murdered (see where this is going?) The jokes come in nicely and the couple's banter is fun.
This is the best I've seen Sandler since the ridiculous 6 and Aniston since the bounty hunter.

Matthew Krueger (10051 KP) rated Amos & Andrew (1993) in Movies
Nov 2, 2019 (Updated Nov 2, 2019)
Ghost Rider and Nick Fury
The plot: When erudite black playwright Andrew Sterling (Samuel L. Jackson) moves to a predominantly white suburb, the buffoonish local police surround his home, assuming he's a burglar. To avoid a scandal, unscrupulous Chief Tolliver (Dabney Coleman) conscripts low-rent criminal Amos Odell (Nicolas Cage) to break in and take Sterling hostage. But Amos and Andrew soon realize Tolliver has no plans to let either survive, so they must put their differences aside and work together to get out alive.
This movie is funny as hell, both Nicolas Cage and Samuel L Jackson are excellent. Also Brad Dourif is funny in this movie.
I dont why this film got bad reviews because it is great. A highly reccordmend movie.

Matthew Krueger (10051 KP) rated Collateral (2004) in Movies
Apr 9, 2020
Crazy Taxi 2004: The Game
Collateral- mixes action, suspense, thrills and Tom Cruise as the villian, that is unheard of. Cause he usually plays the hero/good guy. But in this movie he plays the villian.
The plot: After a long day, LA taxi driver Max is about to knock off when sharp-suited Vincent offers him $600 to make five stops. Sounds good until Vincent turns out to be a merciless hitman and each one of those stops involves a hit. As the night goes on, Max starts to wonder if he'll live to see the sunrise, as the pair are hunted by the police and the FBI.
Its a game of cat and mice, but in a cab. Its a excellent movie.

Billy Keith Hall (419 KP) rated Letters from Whitechapel in Tabletop Games

Whitechapel
A thoroughly enjoyable experience. Hidden movement games are a particular type of game that really stand alone.
So many options for how to strategise as Jack, that this game has comes down to the smallest of clues until the end.
Very challenging as Jack, but highly enjoyable on both sides of the law.
