A nice surprise!
A surprising good Horror film that is definitely different to the normal Slasher. A small group hire an old barn in a remote area to make an adult film. The old couple on the farm find out which lead to a series of events to unfold.
For a low budget indie film it was really good, creepy, sinister, with good gore effects as well. A prequel Film Pearl was made at same time.

Timeline doesn’t seem to make sense (0 more)
Better than the original
I love backstories, and this one didn’t disappoint! This was an excellent prequel that explored the heartbreak that shaped the aunts from Practical Magic. It was an excellent stand-alone novel, even if you haven’t read Practical Magic. I felt like the ending was a little rushed, and I couldn’t figure out the timeline. Regina was born in 1961, but her daughters were adults in the 1990s (assuming Practical Magic takes place when it was written).

"The second non-fiction book by the legendary novelist and screenwriter responsible for such classic films as The Princess Bride (a personal favorite), Marathon Man, All The President’s Men and Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid. Like the prequel, Which Lie Did I Tell includes candid behind-the-scenes stories, a window into the process of how to write good scripts and how The Princess Bride became his first screen credit in nearly nine years. A thoroughly entertaining insider’s look into how Hollywood works."

Despite Eddie Redmayne's best attempts, and the inclusion of 'Star power' in the form of Johnny Depp, the first Harry Potter prequel 'Fantastic Beasts and where to find them' didn't really set all that high a bar for any subsequent sequels.

A bar that this fails to meet.

Honestly, I found it long, boring, plodding and confusing, completely lacking in any of the sense of wonder or magic and friendship that made the original Harry Potter films so enjoyable.

Not impressed to say the least!

Nice ties to a couple of the other films
If it bleeds...
A very good Predator prequel of sorts. Definitely better than a couple of the other entries. Back to basics and more in touch with the original in terms of the set up. Set in 1719 as a Comanche tribe hunt and are hunted.
It crams a lot in to a short 95 minute run time. With plenty of Predator action. Amber Midthunder stands out as one to watch from this.

Darkness Rising (Chateau Seductions 0.5) by Lisa Carlisle
Darkness Rising is a short prequel to the Chateau Seductions series. We meet Antoine for the first time, and see how his life changed from being a gargoyle sculpter, to becoming a gargoyle/vampire hybrid recluse, owning a chateau and helping artists.

This isn't a long book, but it definitely helps to give you an insight into the enigmatic owner of the chateau. You are with him through the years as he says goodbye to his family and learns how to cope by himself. Two characters are introduced who will play a big part in the next book, Dark Velvet. We meet Cameron in dire circumstances and see how his friendship with Antoine grows. And we meet Savannah, who Antoine is immediately attracted to, but always want to help with her poetry.

For a quick dip into the Chateau Seductions world, then I can definitely recommend reading this short prequel. Definitely recommended by me.

After reading Emerge I immediately went online to see if Book 2 had been released yet. Instead, I found Edge which is the prequel novella which gives a glimpse of Allie and Aidan's lives before they met. There is a bit of an overlap in time between the prequel and the main story, which helps to tighten up the story, give more depth to the characters (which were already in-depth anyway) and also helps understand the reasons and objectives behind some of the decisions made in the other book.

I loved Allie and Aidan in the full-length book, but reading these insights into them and their lives just makes me love them all the more. This is a story, and series, to get your teeth into and I have loved every moment.

I'm afraid that I now have to stalk Melissa A Craven until I find out when the next book is due out! Absolutely, definitely and completely recommended.

* I bought this book from Amazon after being unable to leave Allie and Aidan behind. *
