If you wanted to turn this into the series it is, you should not have hired Mark Wahlberg to play PI Spencer. I read many of the later Robert Parker novels in the series so Cissy is a huge shock when Susan is his soul mate. Bokeem Woodbine looks more like Hawk than Winston Duke (although Winston Duke is a convincing young Hawk). I am probably biased since Spencer is such a long-in-the -tooth character now and this is a first in a series type movie.

I'm suuuuuuuuper late to the cassandra clare party, but better late than never right? Until this week if you'd mentioned shadowhunters to me I'd have looked at you like you were crazy. Now I think ill just go ahead and read them all 🤣 this book was great mainly for the fact that it has a little bit of everything, not just the shadowhunters. Vampires? Yep. Werewolves? Yep. Warlocks, fae, demons? All yep. Then sprinkle in some witty banter, a couple fight scenes, and an interesting, though slightly predictable, plot? Works for me.

The Chocolate Lady (94 KP) rated The Kennedy Debutante in Books

(Thanks for the free book, @PRHGlobal / @prhinternational) The name Kennedy is known worldwide, and descendants of that famous family are in the public eye to this day. However, there’s one Kennedy who we know little about, mostly due to her early demise. She was named Kathleen, but everyone knew her as Kick. Kerri Maher’s debut book “The Kennedy Debutante” is a biographical historical fiction novel about this fascinating woman, and you can read my review of it on my blog now. https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2018/10/27/home-again-kathleen/

Okay, so I didn't actually finish reading this one, but that's because I just couldn't. Now, it could be that my preview copy was an earlier version than what will be published. There were certainly far too many typos and problems with the text for what I got to ever go to press. I do hope that I've gotten the wrong impression, since I did see flashes of brilliance in what I did read, and the writer does seem to have potential. She just needs a really, Really, REALLY good editor.

                    Not a big fae fan
I obviously didn't read the description before buying this as I am not a big reader or fan of the fae. That being said, I did really enjoy the authors other series with a big tall tattooed fae in it--Ryker, I think his name was? Now that was an amazing series.
This one didn't pull me in half as much and I was really only reading if to the end to see what creatures they would all turn out to be. Kinda disappointed.
I won't be continuing the series.

The plot thickens! Many times in this book I have screamed words such as NO! WHAT! YOU *add whichever naughty word you would like to here* So this is the follow up to divergent, sides are chosen, people who you wouldn't think would do such things do,secrets are spilt and Tris is on a journey of guilt and grief all rolled up in one. I absolutely loved this book,it kept me hooked till the very end and now I cannot wait to read the last one, although I don't think I'm mentally prepared!

I haven't seen the anime of this yet, and I'm not sure which was released first. I'm definitely interested in seeing the show now though, and am certainly going to read the rest of the manga volumes (if I can find/afford them all!).
As usual, I will try not to ruin the plot for anyone who wants to read it. I'll just say that Ichigo can see ghosts, and one day comes across a soul reaper - who accidentally gives her powers away and is stuck in a temporary human body. Together, they work as soul reapers to rid the world of "evil" hollows - which takes them through some pretty sad memories.
The writing is great - I found this so so comedic, and just enjoyable to read all the way through. I read all 500+ pages in one afternoon!
There's also some.seriously sad stuff in there - dead family members make guest appearances, and I actually found some of the scenes so touching and painful. The entire volume was just written so fantastically.
The art is amazing, too - I especially liked the odd blank page with just a small illustration that peppered the book. It was artistic, yet still presented the story well.
This is probably gonna be a favourite of mine for a long time. I cannot wait to read on - the end of the third volume in this collection is very intriguing! 5/5 stars.
