Fantastic read
This is another book I got from Richard & Judy's book club and I'm so glad I did.

This is a fantastic read. It's such an interesting and disturbing story, and you could almost imagine something like this actually happening in reality. You can also tell that Clare Mackintosh used to be a police officer, as her insight into both the police and the public's perception of the police is spot on. I couldn't put this book down.

On his thirteenth birthday, Alcatraz gets a package from his long dead parents - sand. But that's not the strangest thing as his life takes some wild and crazy turns in this alternative reality book for kids. And it's a wild ride of laughs and adventure. I loved every minute of it and can't wait to read more.

Wollie's appearance on a reality dating show gets her involved when a German au pair, and volunteer member of the crew, goes missing. The plot is a bit slow in the first half, but it picks up for the second. Wollie is a wonderful main character, and the rest of the cast is great as well.

A good action-thriller with a strong cast. It has a slow build up and is very character driven. There are some good, although short scenes, with some good supporting actors. There seem to be a lot of things in the plot that will make you think, why did/didn't he do that instead etc. So you need to suspend reality and stretch the imagination a little in places. An enjoyable enough film if not anything outstanding.

This book is infinitely better than any adaptation you can watch on TV. Atwood presents a stunning, stark creation of the world within Gilead, where women are there for one purpose; to breed. The story of one woman’s journey and the harsh reality of it gives you a sense of frustration. TV land has managed to spin another season out of this story. However, read the book and you’ll understand why I prefer it up to the bitter end.
