Animated retelling of a dickens classic. Never grows tiresome, A big family classic in my household at Christmas. Some scenes were fairly creepy which made the film even better. Lovely animation and a lovely story told with an important message.

Loved the book and read within a couple (0 more)
Loved the book read it within a few hours even though it was a slow start. It's not exactly the same as the beauty and the beast which is great though it is a retelling

some pacing issues here and there, but still a 5 star read from me. (0 more)
This was my favorite book of 2018! I feel it got swept under the rug by some. This loosely based retelling of Anastasia was just fantastic.

I was on a Jane Austen kick when this popped up on Net Galley. I was delightfully surprised that this novel wasn’t horrible. Jane Austen retellings/rip offs are a dime a dozen, especially modern versions. However, I felt that this was a lovely retelling. I felt is held true to its inspirations and I likes Evan and Darcy almost as much as Elizabeth and Darcy. The side characters were just as meddling and frustrating too!

Bottom line, if you want a cute modern retelling that doesn’t butcher the feel of the original, I highly recommend this novel.

An absolutely brilliant female retelling of Sherlock Holmes's classic first mystery. The writing is intelligent and the characters are on point. I absolutely adored the humor, mystery, and skillful unraveling of the threads of Miss Charlotte Holmes. It was far better than I expected.

"With drifter Marlon Brando’s memorable snakeskin jacket standing in for Eurydice’s lethal serpent, and the actor’s guitar for Orpheus’s lyre, Tennessee Williams’s retelling of the Greek myth drips with sweat and sex. I think of Marlon’s jacket whenever I see python on the runway, which is frequently."

An interesting group of stories that are all related, and yet not related, Tales from the Loop does an excellent job of presenting the audience with a beautiful set of stories that are visually compelling, interesting, and unique. Feels like a modern retelling of the Twilight zone.

Fabulous retelling of Norse mythology
Neil Gaiman is a genius and his version of Norse mythology is riveting and exciting. It seems to be an important part of our modern culture again so it is only natural that Gaiman brings it back to the forefront. Epic and interesting.

I am a fan of the cover because the bone skull and the little Sailor Moon symbol at the top. Also the intro or dedication to the gremlin girls was inspiring and I hope it encourages all the young girly readers to continue breaking the glass ceilings with bricks or whatevs else they can get their hands on. There are trigger warnings at the beginning of the book warning the reader about the content in her reading which included child abuse and assault.

This read is a grimm retelling story and is very dark and magical. The author, Margaret Owen, based this book on the "The Goose Girl" which I have never heard of or read. This retelling is also a series so there is another book after this one which is the first of the series. I'd also categorize this retelling as LGBTQ+ which I love. I have no idea what Goose Girl is about but the idea of there being a more woke version is AMAZING to me <3<3<3 Bring on the next book please!
