This is my first book by the author and I can't help wondering why that is because this is a perfect mix of romance, humour and awww moments, especially with Lollipop--the three legged dog they rescue and joint adopt at the beginning of the book.

And Lollipop is what brings our two characters together. They may have already known each other but their love for the cute dog made them finally connect. The broke sarcastic girl and the rich suit wearing do-gooder.

I actually liked both Sadie and Caleb. To see the two relationship wary people slowly open up and let themselves feel something. To be themselves around each other instead of the person they feel they need to be. The eventual teasing as they begin to fall. It was super cute. Add in the dog and I was hooked.

I would love to read more of this series in the future whether it be previous books or Ivy's story which is next up, as they all seem like a great group of friends.

Happy Folklore Friday, everyone! 🌊

This week we're talking about one of my favourite Welsh legends, Cantre'r Gwaelod, the lost kingdom beneath the sea.

The story goes that there was once a great fertile land off the coast of what's now Cardigan Bay, protected from the ocean by a series of dykes and sluice gates. It was rich and green and full of life. But one night, whether through negligence or something worse depending on which version you hear, the gates were left unguarded, and the sea rushed in. The whole kingdom was swallowed before morning.

What makes this legend linger is the detail that stays with people long after they first hear it. On still nights, when the water is calm, you can supposedly hear the bells of Cantre'r Gwaelod's churches ringing up through the waves. There's something in that image that never quite lets go of you. 🔔

What a wonderful story! This is a rich and in-depth tale from the Nine Realms with a history of over 40 years in the making. Samantha has to learn just who she is and also about people that she thought she knew. Ethan has to make peace with himself for something that he has carried out needless guilt for far too long. Putting these two together is explosive! I loved how they worked so well together, neither one smothering the other, instead providing strength and support whenever it was needed.

The story flows well and there are no plot holes that I fell into. The characters, whether 'good' or 'bad' are well-rounded and believable. The Blood Rose series continues to shine and I have no hesitation in recommending this book or the series.
