I picked up this volume, along with volume 2 when I saw it was the same writer of Atomic Blonde (Coldest City). The volume follows an heiress who is now in the US after fleeing Russia, and she happens to be a mercenary.
Of course, there were some Black Widow vibes, but I really liked it. It was engaging, and a quick read.

"This book is the best insight into unknowable Russia, a country I’ve been fascinated by since I studied its language and literature at school and university. It’s the pretend biography of a real-life Russian contrarian, poet, politician, anti hero and punk, Edward Limonov, whose life has shadowed Putin’s and who is now one of Putin’s biggest apologists. It’s a totally brilliant, badass book."

What is power? What is art? Who holds the power? Who does art belong to? In his latest novel, “The Noise of Time,” Julian Barnes investigates these questions via the life of Dmitri Shostakovich, a man who composed music under the thumb of oppression in Soviet Russia.
