Slow life story
The protagonist in this story is Samuel, a man who lives quite a sad life, in my opinion. He is divorced, lives alone in his parent’s house, and doesn’t have many things going on, to be honest. He had quite a difficult life though. His mother left, the father was rigid and abusive, and his brother left as soon as that was possible. Samuel reflects a lot in this novel. He tells his life story, including the life of his grandmother, who is about to die. I didn’t really like Sam, he seems quite miserable and pretty dull. 😦
The narrative is told from a single, Samuel’s, perspective. There are quite a lot of thoughts and personal experiences shared in this novel. I kept waiting for that investigation and surprises, but they didn’t really come. There were attempts to it, but the time spent in a care home with grandmother took most of the narrative. The topics discussed in this novel were mental and physical abuse, children’s mental health issues, loneliness, drugs and alcohol use, controlling fathers and many more.
The atmosphere of this book is quite depressing, it is divided between sad memories and a dying grandmother. 😦 The writing style is quite thought-provoking and detail-oriented, and I did like the story that Sam shared with the readers. I also really liked the short and snappy chapters, that made the reading experience more enjoyable. I liked the ending of this book as well, it was very satisfying to have some sort of closure, and I do hope that Sam finally can have something positive in his life. 🙂
So, to conclude, it was an interesting experience to read a book focused on a man’s mental health issues and his relationships to his quite estranged family members. Even though this novel felt dark and sad, I think that Samuel’s life has thought-provoking experiences. Do give this book a go, and I hope you will like it. It is quite different…

Wow.. I went into this story not knowing what to expect. I ended up loving it and reading nonstop until it was over and I was left in this world wanting more of this world. It was amazing. In the beginning I did have to seriously follow which character was who because I did get a little bit confused off and on but once I had everyone down and figured it all out following it was easy and a lot of fun. The characters were fast paced... they were sexy and mysterious.. Marie was an amazing woman.. strong, sad, happy and everything else you can think of. At times I really didn't like Marie.. she would do something and I'd think.. you are an idiot.. but then a couple pages later something would happen and I'd go... ohhhhh, now I get it. lol The ending was a bit sad for me.. I wanted it to go another direction and I was hoping for another way because Marie had been through a lot but the ending at the same time made sense and leaves it open for what I hope will be another and that it will explain even more. Kristal did an amazing job with her writing and her imagery in this story and her muse was amazing :)

To be clear, I absolutely love the first two Bill & Ted films, and I've been pretty excited to check this out, but now, a few days after finally getting around to watching it, I realise that I'm not, and never was, too sure what I wanted from it.
On the one hand, I have a huge amount of respect for the filmmakers in respect to how hard they commited to sticking to the original tone and comedy style. Unfortunately, for me anyway, it just didn't work. The zany comedy of the first two are perfect for the late 80s/early 90s era, but these days, the whole thing comes across as try hard and occasionally cringe worthy. Don't get me wrong, there are certainly some funny moments, but the overall experience left me cold.
I'm sad that I feel this way, as it's an unnecessary sequel that I hoped would turn out to be surprisingly great, but a few days down the line, and I've largely forgotten most of what happens.
Bill & Ted Face the Music is a good natured attempt at recapturing the magic, but ultimately falls flat. I know that a lot of people liked it, so if you are a fan of the series in any way, then certainly check it out, and I hope you find something to love, but it just wasn't for me (sad face)

It took me a bit longer than normal to finish this book I really enjoyed it but came away feel so sad for Katherine. I’m fascinated with this period of history and she is one queen who always hits the heart when I read her story. This is one of the best ones I’ve read so far and knowing Alison kept as close as possible to history made me even more sad. Something about the princesses of Wales they always get dealt a hard blow by the monarchy. Overall it was a beautifully written version of her. Looking forward to reading Anne’s next.

I’m so glad I’ve read this book. This is the story of Byron: from the age of 13 he knew that he wanted to get away from his hometown of Hucknall in Nottinghamshire, where he was called a “poof” at school and beaten up.
Byron becomes a rent boy, meets new friends at a bar who, he discovers, want the same things out of life as him: he wants to be a woman, and he feels that is what he was supposed to have been.
“Hedonistic” is the word that describes Byron’s life at this time. Until, that is, it all comes tumbling down. One very stupid act lands Byron in jail. But it’s what he does with this time in jail that really counts. And he decides to turn his life around.
I loved this. I enjoyed reading it in the Hucknall vernacular (it reminded me of my dad’s accent in Lincolnshire)and the chapter headings were spot on (all titles from songs at that time). And I felt so much for the young Byron - sad that his family didn’t seem to understand or care for him (other than his grandmother); sad that he couldn’t live as he wanted to and had no guidance to keep him safe. In fact he was lucky that he didn’t end up murdered or overdosed. It’s such an emotional book.

Well, we have come to the end of the series and I have to admit, I am a little sad. What a series this has been! You might have thought it would get a little stale by book 6 but let me tell you, this is definitely not the case.
Book 6 continues to follow Aaron and his friends fighting against an alien invader to prevent the destruction of the earth however, aliens are not the only dangers they encounter so be warned! Not everyone or everything is as it seems and, as is usual with Mr Wright's work, no one is safe.
I have become totally and utterly invested in the characters in this series; I have seen them grow and develop, at their best and their worst and I am sad to come to the end but what a perfect ending it is.
This is a gripping series and one I would highly recommend you read from the start. I suppose you could just drop in with this book but why on earth would you?!?! You would be missing out on so, so much.

I cannot begin to tell you just how much I loved reading this retelling of a childhood classic. I was instantly transported into the story and was kept its captive until the end. The author kept it as it was but told it in a way that younger kids can understand and bring the meaning home. This sad and beautiful tale of two young siblings also teaches that if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything!!

Good book but was extremely slow at the beginning and though I wanted to put it down and stop reading it I continued and found that it did start to become interesting. Tragedy hits Bella and her family which was extremely sad but I did enjoy the relationship between Bella and Jeremiah and some parts of the story dropped my jaw wide open. It is a good read, I just wish it hadn't dragged on during certain parts.

Tense, gripping, rather quite sad
I was a bit initially sceptical about this film, which I am with any film including Brad Pitt, however, it was much better than expected. First of all hats off to Marion Cottilard once again, for giving a powerful performance, and well done to Brad Pitt and his great efforts in speaking quite a considerable amount of French in the film. It is tense, and harrowing, as Brad Pitt, a Canadian high-ranking officer working in the British Army is put in the worst position possible - causing him to doubt his own wife. I admit, I sobbed a bit at the end. Not bad at all.
