It was interesting for the film to show portrayals of multiple cases of PTSD. It was obviously sad, and I had a headache from the tears that wouldn't stop running down my face. It definitely tugs at the heartstrings. It was also pretty depressing. But, of course, it does have a happily ever after.
I found the whole quest for a medal interesting. Since I saw 1917 last weekend, with the main character openly talking about trading his bit of ribbon from the Somme for some wine because it didn't mean anything. Also, I happen to have a bro that was glad when he didn't get a Purple Heart, and wants nothing to do with medals. I suppose the medal was sought for the parents, and because the vets from the Vietnam War were treated poorly. Though, you could argue that vets from every war haven't been treated particularly well.
I think this film was Peter Fonda's last, which shows how long ago it was filmed. I'm not sure why the release was delayed for around 2 years. I guess overall, if you're interested in war films, specifically Vietnam, you would like it. I don't think it would be for everyone.

However, this is no lighthearted comedic musical show. No, this show hits you right in the heart with some absolutely gut-wrenching emotional numbers. They deal with some very heavy subject matter (suicide, debilitating neurological disease, depression) in a beautiful way, and I have found myself tearing up more than once in the first 5 episodes. The first time Zoey's dad sings to her? BAWLING. ðŸ˜
The beauty of this show, though, is in the switch from emotional/sad to happy/fun and back again. You know the songs. The humor is spot-on and will make you literally laugh out loud at times. The actors are all terrific, particularly Lauren Graham and Peter Gallagher - and I'll admit I don't think I knew that either one of them could sing prior to this. Jane Levy is adorable and the perfect actress for this role. Alex Newell, as Zoey's trans neighbor, Mo, is simultaneously hilarious and inspiring.
I truly hope NBC renews this show. I'm in for the long haul. 🎵

Visually it looks stunning and the voice cast are as good as they were the first time, and it’s wonderful to see Alan Tudyk back again as the best new character KnowsMore. The Disney princesses are by far the best thing about this film, and apart from them the only scenes I really enjoyed and found funny were the 2 credits scenes (one of which had been in the trailer). It’s a little sad that you have to sit through a full 2 hour film before finding something truly enjoyable. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a bad film. It’s Disney after all. It’s just that the plot seems a little lacklustre and really quite forgettable. It seems to be missing the magic and the humour from the original, and comes across as very bland and uninteresting. Whilst the internet idea isn’t a bad one and there are some good quirky parts, I don’t feel like it was as well executed as it could’ve been.
The original is a film I adore that never gets old, but sadly this sequel is all too forgettable and not one I’d be interested in watching again.

I highly recommend reading this debut novel from Emma Cooper – perhaps have some tissues at the ready!
The Blurb
‘Our life – no matter what happens in between – starts and ends with a heartbeat: our own personal rhythm, our own song’
If Melody hadn't run out of de-icer that day, she would never have slipped and banged her head. She wouldn't be left with a condition that makes her sing when she's nervous. And she definitely wouldn't have belted out the Arctic Monkeys' 'I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor' in assembly at her son's school.
If Dev hadn't taken the kids to the zoo that day, then the accident wouldn't have happened. He wouldn't have left Flynn and Rose without a dad. Or shattered the love of his life's heart.
But if they hadn't seen the missing person report that day, they might never have taken the trip to Cornwall. And, in the last place they expected, discovered what it really means to be 'Us'.
