Darren (1599 KP) rated Alien 3 (1992) in Movies
Jun 20, 2019
Story: How do you follow up two of the best sci-fi films or all time? This struggles to keep up with the atmosphere created in the first two. It offers nothing new to the series either. As a stand-alone film this would struggle to be a good sci-fi thriller. It’s only positive I can think of were a couple of surprise deaths. (5/10)
Actor Review: Sigourney Weaver – Ripley back to kick the alien’s arse. Sigourney has created one of the biggest icons in female cinema, but this is not the chapter anyone would be remembering. (6/10)
ripley
Actor Review: Charles S. Dutton – Dillon leader of the religious movement on in the prison. One of the good guys who protects Ripley from the bad prisoners. He does an ok job but doesn’t have enough to work with. (6/10)
dance
Actor Review: Charles Dance – Medical officer with a dark past on the road to recovery. Good supporting role is used well to create a good connection between Ripley and the prisoners. (6/10)
Director Review: David Fincher – The great director disowned this film after it got changed post production and I don’t blame him. (4/10)
Action: Slow moving action throughout. (6/10)
Sci-Fi: Take out the Alien it offers very little in the world of sci-fi. (5/10)
Thriller: Not very thrilling compared to previous offering. (5/10)
Special Effects: Poor special effects too. (5/10)
Chances of Tears: No (0/10)
Settings: A prison on a planet with nowhere to run creating a great isolation setting for this sci-fi horror. (9/10)
Suggestion: I only say try because it makes the first two look even better and it is nice to see how the characters you grew to love, well their next chapter. (Try It)
Best Part: Lead scene.
Worst Part: Loses suspense element.
Action Scene of the Film: Final scene.
Kill Of The Film: Clemens
Oscar Chances: Nominated for one Oscar for visual effects
Chances of Sequel: Did get a sequel.
Overall: Poor addition to the franchise.

I really enjoyed the setting of this book as well as the characters. The plot was just familiar enough to be identified as Cinderella, but it told such a different story that I had no idea which way it was going. I am very excited to read the next book in the series and see more of this sci-fi, slightly cyberpunk setting.
Shaun Collins (3 KP) rated Lethbridge-Stewart: Mind of Stone (#10) in Books

Yet another excellent entry into the Lethbridge-Stewart series that features a slow, but deliberate build to a breakneck climax. With a James Bond feel, it makes a great capstone to this particular season of books, all of which have been solid. Can't recommend these enough for Doctor Who fans, or fans of sci-fi in general. Good story (1 more)
Cool location
OK Sci-fi Thriller
One that nearly slipped under the radar at the time of release. Either due to the not so well known cast or budget. It does have some dark twists and throws up some questions on the subject of A.I. Worth checking out if that interests you.

Good Sfx
A decent Sci-fi thriller
An ok film overall with a strong cast and good special effects. I wouldn't say the creature design was great, maybe they thought it would be more plausible? The big problem is it has been done better before many times. It's quite a predictable film but it's well made.

One of Danny Boyle's Best
Danny Boyle is one of those directors that can rarely do wrong, and he really excels here with this beautiful sci-fi. It's well acted and has a fantastic cast, the effects are brilliant and it's a really interesting plot. The soundtrack by John Murphy is probably one of my all time favourite soundtracks, so haunting and memorable.

Fun!
This movie turned out to be very entertaining! The acting was great and the cinematography/effects/ imagery were beautifully done. There is plenty of intense action and cool creatures throughout and the story unfolded well. Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum were great protagonists and worked well together. I highly recommend this sci-fi action thriller to anyone. Really worth a watch!

Sci-fi, Humour and Bob
One of the first Audible books I listened to. Made short work of my commute and I was hooked after 5 minutes.
Amazing story concept of Bob Prime and his copies alwith their differing personalities, all set in the future with brilliant Star Trek, Simpsons and current pop culture references.
Impossible to put down

Not bad remake of "The Last man on Earth" which has elements of Charlton Heston's "Omega Man"
Smith is convincing as he wanders around a deserted New York and conveys loneliness very well, the CGI on the whole is good and the empty streets haunting however the creature design was a let down and not convincing enough, good but not great Sci-fi!

Predator
a cult sci fi/horror movie set in deep space and follows Ripley, a badass gun toting killer when she needs to be. Ripley and crew mates are hunted down one by one and killed by a huge, stealthy acid drooling Alien.
Plenty of old school jump scares and some great graphics a dark atmosphere and nowhere to hide.
