Psycho vs Psycho: but poorly delivered
Oh my word, SAS: Red Notice is disappointing.

A really interesting cast, and the opportunity to do a mix of "Die Hard", "Daylight" and the finale of "Mission Impossible". And a novel take of 'good psychopath' vs 'bad psychopath'. But it's just so poorly delivered.

True that some of the McNab-guided action scenes feel refreshingly authentic. But the script is clunkingly bad (a discussion with a French girl on top of the train... #shudder) and there are story segues that shock (in a bad way): at one point our hero (Sam Huegen - most recently very good as Paul Newman in "For Olivia") walks out of a French vineyard into a winter wonderland with 6 inches of snow! Did I miss the wardrobe???!

After "Twist" this is yet another dire Sky Original movie, this time with a wasted cast. In particular, BAFTA Rising Star Noel Clarke needs to start making better film choices before getting a reputation for being in duffers.

"Close Up by Abbas Kiarostami. The way that that film blends fiction and reality, it is a north star for me. He made a movie about a contemporary Iranian filmmaker named Mohsen Makhmalbaf, and he read an article in the paper about a person who went around pretending to be this filmmaker in order to scam a family out of money and resources. And he went and cast the guy who was going around pretending to be Makhmalbaf, and he cast the real family that he scammed. And he recreated each scenario as if it was a script. He used real life as a script, and you’re watching the real players re-enact something that happened recently in their life, and the result is magical. The result is something that only film can give you. It makes you question your own self. It makes you question, what is a personality? It makes you question empathy. Because you start to actually see that this guy is actually a great actor, the main guy. And then you have one of the most complicated moments in all movies, when Makhmalbaf himself picks up the guy from the prison and rides on a motorcycle through Tehran. Masterpiece"

The weak link
The weakest of all the Star Wars films. Bar a couple of great scenes, the Darth Maul fight against 2 Jedi and the Pod Race, the film is disappointing. Why on earth we needed Jar jar binks character I have no idea. The dialogue is noticeable bad though, as if everything is simplified so kids under 10 could understand it. It's not Liam Neeson's finest performance by any stretch. Thankfully the 2 scenes mentioned do make up a fair bit for the rest of the film.

Very creepy Pennywise (0 more)
Awesome remake of a horror classic
There isn't really anything bad to say about this film despite a lot of critisism of the CGI effects of Pennywise the dancing clown. I, however disagree and believe that this version was far more chilling than the first version. Pennywise was back on form with his creepy and outright terrifying behaviour. The plotline rarely strayed from the original script and the cast did well to keep you engrossed in the movie. I thoroughly enjoyed this film and was quite excited when I picked up the dvd yesterday.

Marvel comedy-SF adventure that gambles big-time (doesn't feature a single character most people will have heard of), wins in spades due to great cast chemistry, effervescent script, and willingness to do something a bit different.

Motley crew of space ruffians meet in prison, find common cause (sort of), must stop would-be despot from causing untold devastation with plot device of ultimate power. Banging 70s and 80s soundtrack, obviously; looks fabulous too. Also strikes a welcome blow for inclusivity and representation of minorities (finally a film includes characters that raccoons and trees can identify with).

A comedy? Really? Nope not sure how some have put it in that category. It is a relationship drama, although light-hearted most of the time. A great cast, good script but the ending left me feeling "oh, is that it?" Not big on dramas most of the time. This does deal with complex issues about love, desire, happiness, relationships and these subjects are often discussed in the film. To sum it up it is a film about a complex love square, let alone triangle, started as two friends on holiday embark on a holiday romance or is it more than that?

Another film to file under "The trailer made it look good". In truth the idea wasn't so bad, a different version to War of the worlds would be one way to describe it. It had big ideas but unfortunately the CGI and acting didn't match the ambition. Some of the CGI for the aliens later on look more like an old Xbox game, and not on the 360! The story and script start to turn rather silly half way through. It made Skyline look rather good. Although it was nice to see Rachael Taylor back in a main stream film.

Although I am a huge fan of hot sexy badass chicks I found the flashback sequences top distracting to truly enjoy the film. I understand the purpose of it, demonstrating a truly brilliant effect of multiple scenes laying over each other meant to deceive, holding true the spy game, they were also distracting as one had to piece together what was happening quickly and by then the scene was over. However the acting was truly brilliant and the scenes were beautiful to behold.

I Just Don't Think I Get It
Don't know if it's just me, but I did not rate this program. Maybe the humour is too subtle/ dark/ deadpan, not sure, but try as I might, I just could not get into it. I did not laugh at the jokes, and found the dialogue very one dimensional (Not sure what I mean by that, just flat, I guess). I know a lot of people like it, so it must just be me, but was not into it. It's no Rick & Morty.
