**BOOK SYNOPSIS**
In this gamble, more than a few poker chips are at stake.

When an Army Air Force Major vanishes from his Top Secret job at the Fort Worth airbase in the summer of 1947, down-on-his-luck former Ranger Jefferson Sharp is hired to find him, because the Major owes a sizable gambling debt to a local mobster. The search takes Sharp from the hideaway poker rooms of Fort Worth's Thunder Road, to the barren ranch lands of New Mexico, to secret facilities under construction in the Nevada desert.

Lethal operatives and an opaque military bureaucracy stand in his way, but when he finds an otherworldly clue and learns President Truman is creating a new Central Intelligence Agency and splitting the Air Force from the Army, Sharp begins to connect dots. And those dots draw a straight line to a conspiracy aiming to cover up a secret that is out of this world⎯literally so.

I loved the concept of [Arlo's Epiphany] by [Jane Oldaker] but it could have been so much more. It was a cute story about a secret agent barncat and the lesson he learns about friendship. I would have liked this to be expanded to a novel because there is so much that can be done with the ideas and characters.

I love this children's classic. Mary Lennox is sent from India to Misselthwait Manor where she meets Dickon the brother of Martha, one of the house maids, and Colin, the son of the owner of Misselthwait . Mary and Dickon find the secret garden that has been locked for many years and bring it back to life. This story is touching and captivating.

When a mysterious unseen foe kidnaps a cat and then one of the twins, the three Grace kids start to discover the strange secret of their new home. A strong plot and good character development kept me turning the pages of this novella.

When Cora gets tricked into hosting a charity crossword puzzle competition, she worries her secret might come out. However, she has other concerns when a body drops. Another fun book, although the rushed ending wasn't as strong as it could have been.

Movie Rating
A good young cast, including a very young Paul Walker. It's a decent conspiracy thriller about a secret society that picks the best students from the top universities. After a friends apparent suicide on campus though, is there more to this elite group. It's entertaining, and has a strong cast line up, locations and action. If you like thrillers check this out.
