Alison Pink (7 KP) rated 13 Little Blue Envelopes (Little Blue Envelope, #1) in Books
Jan 15, 2018
I got this book as a Free Friday selection on my Nook Color. It was a quick, easy read. To be honest, at first I wasn't sure about it. Once I got into the story however I founc myself laughing and crying right along with Ginny as she traveled across the world trying to figure out her crazy aunt. I look forward to reading the sequel, The Last Little Blue Envelope.

OMG... I just can't. This book was epic. I love how much the story gripped me and wouldn't let go. It was a great sequel to the first. You learned more about the characters you already loved and it makes you love them more. I can't wait to read the next one. The world created in this book is amazing. It's definitely in my top 10 series to read.

It was a good book and I’m sure the sequel will be even better but I feel like there could have been more depth to it. I don’t know, I just think there was something missing. When it ended I felt it was a bit meh. I’ll read the next one because I dislike leaving it on a cliff hanger but I hope there’s a lot more to it.

This was a very interesting little book, it was a very quick read and was just over 100 pages long. It's definitely an interesting take on the 'citizenship' test. I can't really say more because it would ruin the main plot point. I'm actually still thinking about this book, solely because of the slightly-sinister ending. I would actually read a sequel or any continuation of this idea.

Set in Oregon, but way cooler to visit than Portland
Full story that ends nicely, with a nerd champion who's behavior and perspectives are realistic and attainable. Makes you question modern games in ways Enders Game or similar stories have not. Also, if you do the audiobook, Wil Wheaton narrates, and he's a wonderful narrator.
Overall, the story didn't start to irritate me until the end and to be fair it was left with the opportunity for a more interesting sequel. I was just really impressed with it's strong, imaginative opening and then disillusioned with the cliche ending. Despite just an "okay" review, I still might give the second book a go.

Dean (6927 KP) rated Sherlock Holmes (2009) in Movies

Much better than I had expected. A big budget, action packed, fun new vision of Sherlock Holmes. A good well picked cast, great visuals, quite a lot of cgi and plenty of humour. Nice to see Guy Ritchie do more than just East London Gangster films! Also features the quickest journey from the Houses of Parliament to Tower Bridge ever, artistic licence for you!! Sequel out next year!

First time i saw this at the cinema wasnt sure i would like the movie cause i remember watching the edward woodward version in the 80s and being a fan of the tv show. I wasnt disappointed by the movie very voient especally the DIy fight scene between him and the bad guys denzel washington is perfectly cast as mccall. All i can say bring on the sequel

This is such an original idea. The novel is set in a post apocalypse of sorts, where violent acts create physical monsters that terrorise a divided city. I've never read anything like it before; it was brilliantly written, and left me wanting more from the characters (I'm just starting on the sequel, and can't wait to see what August and Kate are up to now!).

Beautifully written and completely original yet not so far fetched as to be totally unbelievable. Character driven and focused on the relationships between them as well as between humans and nature. I couldn't put it down and read it in one day unfortunately, as it was one of those rare and magical stories that I never wanted to end. I hope to see a sequel in the future. Highly recommended!!
