Heart breaker
I don't even know where to start with this review. I've never cryed whilst reading a book until I read this, this broke me. John Green is my favourite author, I love all his books, but thus book, it's something else. This deserves no less than 10 stars and if I could give it more I would. If you haven't read this then go read it right now. Its so good I'm nervous to watch the film.

One of the all-time best
I have read a lot of books, but this was by far one of the best ever. This book was nothing short of amazing. It's the kind of book that stays with you - I still revisit it in my mind. I have not stopped telling people about it since I read it... When it first came out!! It's a near-perfect read. And for lovers of nonfiction, this book reads like a remarkable, moving true story.

I love the idea of this book.
Enjoyed the idea of of multiple main characters interacting when normally this would be impossible. I love the crossover aspect, and I got to read a bit from authors I haven't experienced yet. a few of them i might want to follow up with and read their books based on it. This is actually brilliant marketing.

"I also read this in college. I guess going to college was great, because I read some great books. It’s considered a novel but the structure is more a collection of vignettes. Some poetry and some short stories. I really like how it keeps your brain engaged; when the writer switches between this structure and dialogue and not proper English, it makes you focus on what’s actually being written. I love how ambitious it is. It’s also another book about black life that tons of people should love and read and not only read during Black History Month. You know what? Read this book in April when it’s raining outside. How about that?"

Pros:
▪Short story
▪Descriptive writing
▪Strong plot
Cons:
▪Emotional
Moving into March strong, I wanted a quick read last night so picked this one out of my TBR. It took me approx 1 hour to read.
I read this one in school many years ago but hated it, absolutely hated it, the teachers make you judge it and for this reason I think this book is so underrated by many generations! If you previously read this in school and feel you hate it, I really suggest you try read it again, you'll appreciate it so much more.
The narrative is strong and descriptive, yet short and to the point, making it flow really nicely. I feel that this story is about the misunderstood and the unloved, the people who are over looked, judged and forgotten. It ends tragically for a very innocent and naive character. I felt much more of a connection to it this time round and felt the rollercoaster of emotions aswell. Despite this being a marmite book, this is a classic and always will be.

I must say that the title and the synopsis had me intrigued but I practically pulled out my hair as I found this to be a dull read and forced myself to finish reading it. Reading true crime has always captivated me but unfortunately this one just fell short.
