After reading A Letter From Lancaster County and loving it, I knew I had to get my hands on this book. I was so excited when I got that chance! Don't get me wrong, when it comes to Amish Fiction, I'm very picky. With favorites like Wanda Brunstetter, Beverly Lewis and Amy Clipston, I have high expectations when it comes to well written, inspiring simple lives of the Amish variety. Ms. Lloyd is right up there with them and I loved every second of this page-turning, scrumptiously written, novel.

The characters within this novel are chiseled flawfully and beautifully. Jake and Eva remind me a lot of my own husband and myself. We both had a rough go for many years, and after meeting each other, and seeking God, we got to start over with each other, start from scratch and create a beautiful life together. Eva and Jake are captivating both alone in their stories, and when they are together. Watching them come to terms with their need to seek God in all they do, and for their need to start over and move on from the past, really tugged at my emotions.

Ms. Lloyd is truly talented. This novel is so worthy of the 5 star praises I'm singing to people. This book will wrap you up, twist you inside out, and land you in a place that only God can prepare for you. The inspiration that Ms. Lloyd pieces into the pages is beyond amazing and before I knew it, I was done with this novel. I can't wait for another fantabulously done, awesometastic Amish story in this incredible series! Well done, and hats off to you, Ms. Lloyd! Bring on the next!

*I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review, positive or negative.*

Just a Few Tweaks and I Would Have Loved it
When April’s (Issa Rae) boss gets turned into a child by a curse, April has to hold down the fort at work while trying to figure out a way to reverse the curse. It’s not a great movie that will leave a long impression, but I can definitely say that I liked it a whole lot more than I expected to.

Acting: 10

Beginning: 7
The movie begins with the audience getting a view into the lives of April and her boss Jordan Sanders (Regina Hall). It’s a little formulaic as you can tell it’s solely for the purpose of introducing the characters, but still manages to be enough to jumpstart the movie. It was enough to get me laughing and looking forward for more.

Characters: 10

Cinematography/Visuals: 6

Conflict: 6

Genre: 5

Memorability: 7

Pace: 8
While not the end of the world, I think the movie suffered from being longer than it needed to be. The pacing was scattered at times and could have been managed by tightening the story. The comedic moments were enough for the most to part to mask the pacing shortcomings.

Plot: 7
Twists? Turns? You won’t find any of that here. The story is as linear as they come. Still, the ride you are taken on just happens to be a fun one so it’s pretty forgivable. Just don’t expect to say, “Didn’t see that coming” at any point.

Resolution: 10

Overall: 76
You could do worse this year than checking out Little. Some won’t like it while others, like myself, will take its entertainment value for what it is. Had the story been a little more inventive, I might be singing a different tune.

I know that this book has already been out in the stores for a while but I just couldn't get my review up before now. I did get the book finished before the publish date though.
I have greatly enjoyed this book and a few others that she has written.
This book is about a 12 year old girl named Louisiana and her grandma, who leave the state of Florida at 3 in the morning. Louisiana doesn't know why just that her grandma woke her up and told her to get into the car. She had to leave behind her friends and pets. She has been told that a curse has been passed down from her great grandfather and that it was time to end the curse. The curse is known as a Sundering. The story goes on to explain how the curse was started and why it is called this name. They travel with no money or means on how to get where they are going. Grandma ends up needing some dental care and time to recover so she has Louisiana help pay for things by her wit and voice. She has a beautiful singing voice. During this time Louisiana meets some a boy who befriends and they are able to have some fun while grandma recovers. On her trip back from one of the visits her grandma has taken off and left her a note. This note explains somethings to Louisiana that changes her life and questions everything that has happened. What did the note say and what does she do?
I do recommend that you read this book or have your middle grader read it. It is a fun and adventurist book.

Janine is a singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist from New Zealand. Not too long ago, she released a sensual contemporary R&B tune, entitled, “Vacation”.

“I’ll be your vacation, hit all your locations. I know that you like this so come here and bite it. I’ll be your vacation, reach your destination. I know what you like and I’m down to ride. Let me get you right.” – lyrics

‘Vacation’ tells a pleasure-seeking tale of a young woman who’s been drinking and feeling a tad-bit-lonely.

During that time, her significant other tells her that he wants to come over to touch her in all the right places, and he does just that. The next morning, she wakes up with his hands feeling on her voluptuous body.

‘Vacation’ contains a relatable storyline, ear-welcoming vocals, and lush instrumentation flavored with contemporary R&B and neo-soul elements.

“This song is my first release since being dropped from a major label and I took it back to my roots and what my fans fell in love with. I fully produced and wrote this song myself. It’s been a while and it feels good to be back. This song is about having that loving so good you are transported away from the real world like an in-body out-of-body vacation. I hope lots of babies are made to it.” – Janine

Janine is a self-sufficient artist whose musical journey began at the age of five when she recorded herself singing her favorite tunes on a double cassette player.

By the age of fourteen, she was performing original songs with a guitar at open mics, mostly held at bars she wasn’t technically allowed into.

Bria Lee is a rising New York-based singer-songwriter from Providence, Rhode Island. Not too long ago, she released an urban-pop ballad, entitled, “Piece By Piece”.

“Wake up, paint my smile on, but nothing feels the same. I’m too pale, my makeup’s stale, the sky’s a little bit grey. I heard from a good friend that you are doing fine. But still here, ash and cigarettes, and empty bottles of wine. But how did I get here? What do I do when everything always comes back to you?” – lyrics

‘Piece By Piece’ is the follow-up single to Bria Lee’s breakout tune, entitled, “One Shot”, featuring Fat Joe.

The likable tune contains a sad-girl storyline, ear-welcoming vocals, and lush instrumentation flavored with sentimental elements.

“‘Piece By Piece’ is a song to help you realize that being broken is not the only option. It’s about taking the time to look inward and trying to put the pieces of your life back together. So that when you fall in love with the right person they can see the whole you. This song is about being transparent, speaking your heart, and remembering your voice.” – Bria Lee

Bria Lee grew up in a musical household. Her mother sang and played the guitar. Her father was fascinated with artists and musicians and urged her to not let her talents go to waste.

At the age of 17, she registered at New York’s Manhattan School of Music and studied classical piano.

Shortly afterward, she found herself with an 80-hour grind, waiting tables and working at a pizzeria, while singing on the NYC jazz scene.

Eventually, her hard work paid off after a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity at a record label showcase, which opened the door to her signing with Republic Records.

The Adventures of Pugalugs: A Christmas Furry Tail by Jessica Parish is the heartwarming story of all the fun Pugalugs and his siblings have on Christmas day with their family.

The fun all starts on Christmas Eve with decorating the tree and singing Christmas Carols. Then it is off to bed where Pugalugs thinks he hears Santa in the house. On Christmas morning the Pugs get presents and enjoy a wonderful Christmas dinner of turkey and gravy. After a busy day, everyone relaxes in the living room while Pugalugs is already thinking about all the fun to be had next Christmas.

What I liked best about this book is that I enjoyed seeing Pugalugs and his siblings taking part in all of the fun Christmas activities. The pugs are included in everything just like the rest of the family. The rhymes also make this such a fun book to read. What I liked the least about this book was trying to pry it away from my daughter so that I could flip through it while wringing my review. I’m kidding, but in all seriousness, I have nothing negative to say about this book. I love this series.

Young children and toddlers will enjoy having this book read to them, especially during the Christmas season. Slightly older children will enjoy reading this book both on their own and to family members. I rate this book 4 out of 4. It is an extremely cute Christmas book that I can see being read by families during the holidays all over the world. It is also very bright and full of Christmas fun.
