Dean (6927 KP) rated Fast & Furious 9 (2021) in Movies
Jun 25, 2021 (Updated May 22, 2023)
Big cast (1 more)
Good chase locations
Unbelievable stunts (1 more)
Space?!
Good if not in top gear
Another decent entry which ticks the Fast & Furious check list set by the recent entries. Good to see more of the Fast cast of previous films on show here. There are some good chase scenes in various locations around the globe. We also get a peak at Dom's early life.
On the down side some of the cast deserve more screen time, also feels quite different not having the Rock in this entry.
The franchise in recent entries has had crazy stunts and this has some again which seem far fetched even by the usual standards. Even sending cars into space now.
It will satisfy fans of the series as a whole, even if it's not quite as good as some of the other films. Hopefully Fast 10 will combine the best elements of the franchise altogether to get back on track.

David McK (3505 KP) rated Implacable (The Lost Fleet: Outlands #3) in Books
Jul 14, 2024 (Updated Jul 14, 2024)
Imagine, if you will, you've turned up uninvited at a new friends house, just as they are about to host a party.
Whilst surprised to see you, they none-the-less invite you in and introduce you to their friends (new to you).
Then your own relatives, who only have a passing relationship with your mate, start showing up uninvited as well; start being pass-remarkable, making demands and throwing their weight around.
That's pretty much the situation facing Admiral 'Black Jack' Geary, out beyond the frontiers of human space, in this the latest novel in the long-running 'Lost Fleet' series, with - as it turns out - experimental (and dangerous) jump space technology leaked to those left behind after he started his journey - technology that makes everything, in the words of one character 'more so'.
The result is another enjoyable read in the series, with plenty of plot threads left hanging for the inevitable sequel.

Heather Heath (18 KP) rated Star Trek: Discovery in TV
Apr 19, 2019
Its an ok show. I grew up whatching the original series, TNG, Deep space 9, and the other Two series. Seen all the movies. (Step dad and husband big Star Trek fans) The show could be better if they allowed more characters development to the other characters. And it almost becoming predictable. Like what is Michelle Bernum going to on this episode? This is suppose to be Star Trek not the Michelle Bernnum show

Ande Thomas (69 KP) rated Leviathan Wakes (The Expanse, #1) in Books
May 30, 2019
Ahem. I had previously said that Dennis E. Taylor's Bobiverse series was one of the best modern SF universes to be put on page. And I still think that's probably true. But The Expanse really tests my resolve. Even if only by sheer volume and brute force, these novels really throw you for a loop and in my opinion, truly worthy of the title of Game of Thrones in space.

The Marinated Meeple (1853 KP) rated Battleship in Tabletop Games

Very Basic luck based deduction
Not a very interesting game, you "hide your ships" and then take random shots marked on a axis based grid, and if you hit you hunt around that space until you sink the ship. it's a bit of a race to see who can outlast the other, but the only skill involved is in reading you opponent and guessing where he/she hides their ships. we can do better.

Lizzi Lewins (73 KP) rated the PlayStation 4 version of Jurassic World Evolution in Video Games
Jan 9, 2019
I remember enjoying operation genesis for countless hours way back and so I love that we finally have another jurassic park game. The graphics are great and whilst achieving goals can be challenging and sometimes frustrating overall I have really enjoyed the game so far. The developers have done a great job and have listened to the players when it comes to updates. The only negative for me is lack of space on Isla Nublar.
Space travel is of no interest to me. I started watching this not knowing exactly what it was about and the first scenes drew me in. I liked the futuristic technology and the stories between the characters, particularly Tom Haggerty and his daughter. The amount of episodes should have been cut in half though, a lot of it was very long and drawn out where nothing much seems to happen, this spoilt it for me.

Reiko LJ (126 KP) rated the Xbox 360 version of Mass Effect 3: Omega (DLC) in Video Games
Apr 22, 2020 (Updated Apr 22, 2020)
Decent storyline (2 more)
New squadmates
New enemy types
Take Omega back
A decent addition to the game. Having lost her space station Omega to Cerberus, Aria is pretty salty when you meet her in the base game. This DLC gives you a chance to team up with her and take it back. It provides some interesting insights into her backstory and some great Aria moments in general. She definitely appreciatesa Renegade Shepard too.
