Merissa (13298 KP) rated Lost Shores of Thonis in Books

LOST SHORES OF THONIS is a standalone historical mystery with a touch of the supernatural, based on the real lost city of Thonis-Heracleion. Now, I say this is a standalone, but it doesn't feel like it. It feels as though it is the first book in a series, as not everything is explained, finished, or tied up neatly with a pretty little bow.
Told from Azizi's perspective, you find out how she and two others became 'Blessed', what happened to Meryt, and how she finds out the 'truth'. There are a multitude of characters here that aid and abet with Azizi, or are against her. I'll leave it to you to figure out which.
I did struggle with parts of this as Egyptian history isn't one of my fortitudes. Not only that, but the tales of Nubia and the secrets revealed didn't always make much sense to me. However, the mystery of the story itself was intriguing, and I couldn't wait to learn more as each chapter unfolded. I also could have done with an Egyptian translation to figure out the meaning behind certain words, but I made it through.
This was a great read by an author I admire, so I'm definitely happy that I read it, and have no hesitation in recommending it.
** Same worded review will appear elsewhere. **
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book; the comments here are my honest opinion. *

this is the first book by this author that I've read and ill definitely be reading more. this is a sexy standalone romantic read from this author that you'll love as much as i did. this story has it all, its funny, sexy, has fab characters and a fab story as well. you will end up falling in love with the characters from the beginning of this book. this author has a fab way of writing so that you feel all the emotions of the characters through there words and it will suck you into the story and you'll never want it to end. this is definitely a summer must have book.

Sarah (7800 KP) rated Despicable Me 3 (2017) in Movies

An unnecessary sequel
It's getting to be a shame that they keep making these films. The first one was great, the second alright and the standalone Minions film was terrible. Sadly this third film is nothing to write home about.
It's not terrible, it's just missing the magic from the original film. Bratt is admittedly a fun bad guy and the 80s theme is actually quite entertaining. It's just a shame that the rest of the film is a little lacklustre and almost boring. There's not a lot of humour, and the minions aren't featured as much as they used to which is a bad move. It's just an entirely unnecessary sequel, and I really wish they had just left it after the first film.

Unusual story
All the love for this audible release. This really is the best encapsulated, standalone romance I’ve read in an age. It’s an unusual story which is part of the strength because unlike most romance, it wasn’t a familiar storyline. The characters are equal measures of feisty, stubborn, loyal and caring and I loved them both very quickly. There's a great suspense element in this book two but it doesn't overpower.
I am a fan of kylie Scott but there was just something about how she wrote the heat in this book that was fantastic. Her plain use of vocabulary made everything come alive, if you catch my drift. Go listen the heck of Andi Arndt doing her thing on this audio.

Hot in more ways than one!
Delilah is a fun, strong-willed character. I liked her straight away, from her desire to achieve her goals and being family orientated right the way to having the hots for the scrumptious Dallas.
Dallas....swoon!! Hot, protective, funny.....I could go on but you need to experience it for yourself.
As with all good books there are plenty of hurdles to overcome, misunderstandings, some 'adult' moments and danger....definitely hard to put down.
A brilliant start to what promises to be a fantastic series. This can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend it as a series....there's another four hot brothers to get to know! We meet them but, obviously, this isnt their story.
