Bullet proof suits?
Ninja Level
You know what you will get with a John Wick film, can it maintain the high standards and offer something new? Well there are plenty of fights against crazy characters and in fantastic locations.
The first half of the film really cranks it up a level again. Donnie Yen as the blind assassin is class. Bill Skarsgard is a good choice of villian.
The only slight downers were the idea of bullet proof smart suits and having to suspend belief at times for some fights. John falling down tons of steps in one scene was silly.
Overall though a great action film with amazing fights if a little repetitive over the long run time. Maybe the 3rd is just a little better allround.

I don’t really want to give too much away about Sundown, so I suppose for this review I’ll have to bring you my thoughts on the production etc rather than going in to deep with the story of the short film.

Running at almost 13 minutes, Sundown looks stunning, the colouring of the short film has been done wonderfully, with the colours of not only the landscape and sky of the beautifully shot scenes but also the skin tones of for Frazer and Caitlin.

This makes the film a joy to watch, but adding to the delight of looking good, Sundown also has a soundtrack that sounds lovely, the music throughout the film works so well, giving the film a feeling of love and devotion to the high standards of producing a soundtrack and to flow throughout the story.

Gripping read
This is a very lengthy epic read, but at least it's a very good one.

The plot itself is an intriguing one, and very similar to stories Stephen has written in the past (The Stand, Under the Dome etc). I always love these stories and the fact that they're told from the perspective of multiple characters, and Sleeping Beauties really works like this. I could barely put the book and couldn't wait to get it finished. There are a lot of themes running through this that are very similar to King's other stories and as a King fan, I loved it.

The ending itself was maybe slightly disappointing, it seems to have been wrapped up very quickly despite having spent 600+ pages leading up to it. In short, it's a very enthralling read, even if it isn't quite up the standards of King's usual epic novels.

I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed...
The fantasy buddy-cop movie that no one asked for, yet it still let us down.

I was so pumped to watch this. I love the lead actors and was so excited to see what they did with the fantasy aspect. But it really should have been a TV or mini series. They crammed way too many ideas into this movie. It's like the writers had no editing process and just through all of their ideas in and followed through with about... two of them.

It's still an enjoyable film if you're standards aren't set too high, mostly salvaged by the good acting, but my head was spinning from all the half-baked storylines and rabbit trails going on. That feeling of disappointment when the credits start rolling... Oy vey.

Subtle but brilliant
A brilliant samurai drama/romance that has some quality katana (sword) action.
We follow the path of Munezo, a samurai of a rural clan set in the early 1860's. Whilst Japan is changing with the times, Munezo show us how crucial his qualities of loyalty, respect, courage and self control and really are. Although not all of the Samurai are as moral as himself, Munezo has the fortitude to carry out his duties by his own standards. The relationship between Munezo and his once house keeper Kei is a beautiful and subtle thing, showing the world of film that kissing and sex scenes are unnecessary. The action scenes are intense and emotionally complex. And then there's the Demons Claw but, I'll let you find out about that yourself..... Enjoy.

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)

Astoundingly violent, wholly absurd thriller sequel. Short-fused hitman Wick (Reeves) goes on the run from the authorities of the underworld, demonstrating his mastery of gun-fu, knife-fu, horse-fu and library-book-fu along the way. The plot is almost entirely secondary to Reeves committing bloody slaughter on a mind-boggling scale.

Essentially a fantasy film in every way that matters, and the middle section flags noticeably, but once again it gets the tricky balance between taking itself too seriously and just being silly about right, although the film has a hard, sadistic edge that feels new. Helped by terrific action choreography and some outrageous overacting from most of the cast. The decision to keep the door flapping open for Chapter 4 may test the goodwill of some viewers, but this is another good bad movie, up to the standards of the last one.

Classic Hammer horror plays it very straight with Dennis Wheatley's genteel tale of satanic goings on in the home counties. Christopher Lee gets the opportunity to play the good guy, for once, and really makes the most of it; hard to imagine anyone else playing the part better. That said, he's given a run for his money by Charles Gray in what was really a career-defining role for him.

It all seems a bit quaint and somewhat bourgeois by modern standards (they never bother to explain why devil-worship is quite such a bad idea, it's taken for granted that good and evil are quite inflexible), and there are a few amusing holes in the plot, but there are some great set-pieces and the supporting cast are also on form. Very much a film of its time, but still entertains today; not especially scary, though.

Excellent fight choreography (1 more)
Good casting choices
Terrible plotline (1 more)
Bad scriptwriting
Pretty Decent Adaptation
The best element of the Assassin's Creed film adaptation has to be the fight choreography. It was so skilfully done to the best of the choreographers', stunt doubles', and actors' abilities, and it paid off. The casting choices were also commendable as Michael Fassbender was the perfect choice for the leading role of Cal and I am unable to picture anyone else playing that role. But I have to admit, the plotline and the writing weren't up to modern film standards; meaning they completely fell through. I love this film, but if it was written better with a much better plotline, it would not go into the 'bad film adaptation' pile. Overall, I wouldn't call this an award-winning film, but it is very entertaining to watch and the fight scenes are incredible.
