Spaceballs is the most accessible of Mel Brooks' films as it seems to be the least dated as of today. Having rewatched it recently, it still holds up as a great parody of not only Star Wars, but Star Trek, Alien and Planet of the Apes as well.

I raised my 3 kids on the film, so we often will have Spaceballs "quote-a-thons" back and forth through text or message.

There is something in it for everyone; however, Dark Helmet is the greatest.

Dusty (12 KP) rated a video of Galactica 1980 in TV

Aug 16, 2018

Thought this was brilliant untill I saw Star Wars. Thought the story was really good and thought it was up with Star Trek. As you probably can tell by now I was a sci-fi geek lol. But I was into this in a big way liked the way it followed them to earth. (1 more)
And then followed them around for a bit. And the new Battlestar Galactica where brilliant from beginning to end I have them in my collection and pull them out every once in a while
Loved this when I was a kid

I love this film, i have never been into star trek or watched anything of it.
But with this film i can watch it all day, it leaves you wanting more. An animated series with the voice actors, a game with these people as an RPG.
Both me & my wife love to sit and watch this

I'm not a Trekkie fan by any means but I have to say I'm suprised so many rate this so highly? I found it rather slow and boring and void of any real action whatsoever. The borg can just be walked past half the time, hardly an intimidating or a fearsome enemy. The latest Star Trek film going back to how the original crew got together is the best by far.

Out of the three new Star Trek movies, this one, by far, is the strongest. I was surprised that the director, best known for the numerous fast and furious movies, did as well as he did. The villain, played by Idris Elba was kind of blah, I wish they would have given him more to work with. I loved the tribute to Anton Yelchin and Leonard Nimroy (RIP).

It was lackluster for the entire 2 hours and 20 minutes. The movie was basically "Captain America: The First Avenger" with a mediocre story, an unconvincing lead, and a dumb villain. Chris Pine tries to add a certain panache but every line I heard I just thought of Star Trek. I was disappointed, to say the least, for the scores it's getting.

A bit slow in the middle, and I managed to guess the end. Could really do with a bit of a rewrite to keep it relevant to a modern audience. Still, anything which inspired so many episodes of Star Trek must have something going for it. (I tried looking for other works by the same author, but nada: must be one of those 'To Kill a Mockingbird' kind of deals.)

Season 3 (of, at the moment, 3) of Seth McFarlane's currently-more-Star-Trekky-than-Star-Trek show, with pretty much every episode this season hitting it out of the park.

While still present, the sometimes infantile humour of season 2 (and, in particular, season 1) has been dialled back quite a bit, while the SFX budget has seemingly inversely increased (although, obviously, still not up to motion picture levels!).

As with all good sci-fi, the season also takes in topical considerations through a sci-fi lens: top of my head, I can think of suicide, identity, gender politics, free will ...

I think I heard/read somewhere that this was to be the last outing for Patrick Stewart's Jean-Luc Picard.

As in the last season of his last outing.

If it is, they saved the best for last.

Compared to season 1 and 2 of Start Trek: Picard, this is much more like it, eventually reuniting all the Next Generation crew (as they should have done from the start of Picard season 1) and laying the groundwork for a possible new Star Trek series.

To be clear: there is no current word of that, nor is any in production, but there is plenty heard that could be used as a starting point if one were to be commissioned
