"With these three [Coppola’s] a great storyteller. Godfather: Part II, I just think it’s a master class in acting, production design, directing, lighting, composition. I think that if you were a film student, you’ve got — the way he tells the story, it’s masterful storytelling. And it never ever seems to disappoint."

"It’s always the beautiful simplicity of this story that transports me. Not a word is wasted. For such a short novel, it kind of approaches perfection in storytelling for me. Hemingway apparently said of the novel that it was the “best I can write ever for all of my life.”"

"I change my selection every six months depending on my mood, and I’m in a Christmas mood. I just think it’s a really great piece of cinema and a great piece of storytelling and a sublime performance at the heart of it, and reminds us all about our shared humanity."

Musical storytelling at it’s finest (0 more)
A Real Piece of Art
Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds is an enduring classic, with stunning storytelling lyrics & drama building music aplenty. From the first bars I was hooked from first listen.
This takes the story to a new level, with a narration from the velvety voice of Richard Burton - it transports you from the fear of the unknown, to the depths of terror and finishes with hope and the sheer resilience of the human spirit. Great as a whole and some real stand out pieces, Forever Autumn being a hit in it’s own right & The Eve of the War being the ring tone choice of many (including me). Just unmissable.

Interesting Organization
A Wonderdul Journey into the Tao
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Although, it didnt provided the actual text of the Tao Te Ching it did offer the lessons it brings forth, explaining these lessons through the art of storytelling. I appreciated how he organized these lessons throughout the book as well, starting off with the easier of the lessons to learn and further sorting them into sections that hold common themes. I was able to glide easily through the reading, understanding even the harder of the lessons through the stories being told, using the stories as almost a guide in explaining the lesson.

Amazing world
This book is probably the book I've read the most. 11 times now I think. Or is it 12.
I love it so much because it is such an amazing world to escape to.

City Of God (2002)
City Of God (2002)
2002 | Crime, Drama
Brilliant study of two very different boys that follows their very different paths as they try to escape the slums of the favela.
The story is visceral and unflinching in its violent and frantic storytelling, which can be jarring, not an easy film to watch, but an important one, in a word, masterful!

For one, I'm glad this was realistic. It's was pretty good storytelling and it was quickly paced. I <3 Michael Pena in everything. Michael Shannon did a great job too, and I like watching Chris Hemsworth in general. It wasn't Black Hawk Down good, but it was good enough to warrant another viewing.

A good, well acted cast, with Octavia Spencer playing the sinister antagonist. Happy to see Juliette Lewis on the big screen again. (0 more)
A predictable premise, unoriginal storytelling with a predictable ending. Wish we'd gotten more of a back story on Spencer's daughter. They could have really made up a twisted storyline with her. (0 more)
