This is a very good action thriller that involves a puzzling story-line and creepy villains.
While it seems that there are 2 completely different, unlinked cases going on in this book, you get the impression that is not the case at all; but how they're linked is what keeps you guessing.
Very action-packed indeed and the more so the further you read. I greatly enjoyed it.
The writing and plot are superb.
If you love Jo Nesbo- this is for you.

While Rebecca has tried to distance herself from her ex-husband, famed TV chef Antoine, she can’t turn him away when he comes to town to do a segment on her popcorn shop POPS. However, Rebecca’s meeting with Antoine’s assistant Melanie turns into a shock when she finds the woman electrocuted in her bathtub. When the police go from suicide to murder, Rebecca thinks they’ve picked the wrong suspect. Can she find the right one?
I enjoyed the first book in this series, and I was delighted with this one as well. Several of the characters I liked in the first weren’t around much here, but the characters we did see again or meet for the first time or than made up for it. The plot was strong, with plenty of suspects to choose from. I did figure things out a bit early, but that wasn’t an issue since I was having so much fun.

Spot on casting
I just finished the first season of this show last night and though there were some major issues that turned me away from giving this a higher rating, overall it was a good show and one that i intend to share with my teenage sister. This show may be extremely difficult to watch for someone who may be suicidal, or who has experienced sexual assault. The casting was done extremely well and in a manner that really makes you hate the characters you're supposed to hate.
Unfortunately the last few episodes really turned the story from about about WHY the main character killed herself and instead turned it into a revenge story of sorts. It really took quite a bit away from what I felt was the take-home message of the book. It certainly didn't glorify suicide, but it turned the story away from looking at the deeper issues and how one small event can lead down a very dark path and into making it feel like it was drama for the sake of drama. I don't know if I'll continue on to Season 2.

A disturbingly good thriller
The second in the Grant County series this book continues with the high shock value of the crimes involved. Seriously if you are squeamish or don’t want to be reading about rape, genital mutilation, paedophilia, child abuse, and/or suicide then you should probably avoid.
In this outing medical examiner Sara Linton and her on / off partner police chief Jeffery Tolliver investigate a tragic teenage argument that leads to the uncovering of a series of very dark secrets in the town. But with those around the victim closing ranks it’s tough to get to the bottom of who is responsible for some pretty disturbing stuff.
We get to see a bit more of the Sara and Jeffrey relationship dynamic; but more interesting in this book is the ongoing recovery of Detective Lena Adams. The horrendous experiences that were covered in the previous book in the series “Blindsighted” are taking their toll on Lena. I would recommend reading this series in order to fully get the back story to this.
Despite the uncomfortable nature of some of the subject matter this is another well written thriller from Slaughter.

Stirring the Sheets isn’t exactly what I’d call horror, and in that regard, I’m a bit disappointed. The story, on the other hand, is heartbreaking and tear inducing. Lutzke definitely has a way with words and I’ll read more of his work in the future.
Emmett is an elderly man working at a funeral home. His wife of more than fifty years passed away in a tragic accident, leaving him heartbroken and lonely. As he spirals downward in grief, a young woman that bears an uncanny resemblance to his wife in her 30s commits suicide. Emmett does the unthinkable, out of sheer desperation.
Reading this story made me really sad. The characters are well-written and easy to connect with and the plot moves along at a reasonable pace. Throughout the story, I felt sorry for Emmett and I hoped for the best for him. His neighbor Rosemary is a total doll, too. I gobbled this one up, even though it failed to meet my usual expectations for something that’s labeled horror and it was worth the read.

I saw the film opening weekend and sat next to an eight-year-old boy who was going to his first horror movie. Considering the original Child's Play was the first horror movie I watched after being scarred by It and The Shining, I could appreciate how this film would effect that boy. As a gateway to the genre, Child's Play is and will serve a purpose. The scares are simple and the terror tame. In this iteration, a doll with built-in artificial intelligence and wireless connectivity names itself Chucky after being given to the solitary Andy. The doll had been given a bug right before the worker who built him committed suicide (not an important plot point). Chucky imprints himself onto Andy and all he wants to do is please his best friend. Unfortunately, Andy is a little weird and doesn't make friends easily. But he does make friends with two neighbor children who expose Andy and Chucky to gore. A murderous plan is set into motion and the only person who can prevent a Robopocalypse before the Buddi2 dolls are put onto market is Andy.
