Bong Mines Entertainment (15 KP) rated Love Don't Let Me Down by Bishara in Music
Jun 21, 2019
Bishara is a 16-year-old singer based in Linköping, Sweden. Not too long ago, he released a music video for his “Love Don’t Let Me Down” single.
“Never wanted to be friends. Never thought it could be more than stories when I saw it made no sense. Better safe than sorry. Didn’t want to play pretend. I stayed back hoping you’d ignore me. Now, I’m off the deep end. Oh, Lord have mercy.” – lyrics
‘Love Don’t Let Me Down’ tells an interesting tale of a young guy who is fearful of giving his heart to someone who he desires to be with.
Apparently, he’s seen a million hearts break before, so he doesn’t want that to happen to him. Later, he admits that he is ready for love if what he feels is considered real love.
‘Love Don’t Let Me Down’ contains a relatable storyline, ear-welcoming vocals, and stripped instrumentation scented with sentimental elements.
Check out Bishara’s music video for his “Love Don’t Let Me Down (Remix)” single.
Not too long ago, Bishara competed in the Swedish Melodifestivalen with his second single, entitled, “On My Own”.
His performance in the TV Show was the first time he ever stood on a stage. In the end, he received an honorable second place in the competition.
Shortly afterward, the song went straight to #2 on the Swedish Spotify Top 50. Also, it was added on Sweden’s biggest radio channels and has today reached gold status.
Bishara’s latest performance was with Benjamin Ingrosso at Gröna Lund where they performed ‘On My Own’ in front of a crowd of 11,000 people.

Lenard (726 KP) rated Midsommar (2019) in Movies
Aug 26, 2019
Director Ari Aster returns with another homage to the classic horror movie Wicker Man. Every 90 years, a secluded Swedish town holds a festival to honor the old gods. It is expected that anyone raised in the town will ensnare gullible undergrads to serve as guests of honor of the festivities. While this serves as the plot of the surface story, the true horror is the toxic romance of a dying relationship. The woman is an emotional burden who is starting to see the cracks in the relationship. The guy is hanging out with his guy friends too much, he has no future goals and emotionally immature, and is about to forget her birthday. When she suffers a major tragedy, leaving her completely alone even if she has that boyfriend, she tags along to Sweden.
Awix (3310 KP) rated Star Trek: First Contact (1996) in Movies

Definitely not Swedish
Indisputably the best of the TNG Trek movies, not that this is saying very much. Picard and company whizz off back to the 21st century to stop the malevolent Borg from changing history; there's no plot like a recycled Star Trek plot, I guess. Vaguely odd premise is realised well by Jonathan Frakes.
Kind of falls victim to the usual assumption that all Star Trek movies must necessarily be action movies, and (once again as usual) some of the more junior members of the cast don't get very much to do. Frankly, would have liked to have seen the original script where the Borg tried to kidnap Leonardo da Vinci (Patrick Stewart refused to wear tights on film any more, apparently), but moves along breezily enough and you don't need to be a full-on Trekkie to find something to entertain you here.

BookInspector (124 KP) rated Watching You (Berger & Blom #1) in Books
Sep 24, 2020
This the first book in Berger and Blom series, and it was my first encounter with Swedish noir.
At the beginning of this book, I had no idea what was going on and what are they trying to figure out. There were only little clues, that a 15-year-old girl is missing. As the story progressed, I started to see, that Sam Berger, is the main detective, trying to solve this case. The characters in this book are really entwined with each other and very mysterious at the same time. There is a lot of secret work going on, which is uncovered throughout the book, and it was very pleasantly unexpected for me.
The narrative is told from multiple perspectives, and the events keep traveling to the past, to share some of the secrets with a reader. Even though the beginning of this book is quite dull, once it reaches around 40 % it spikes up drastically. The whole narrative gets a different perspective and is way more interesting, so do not give up on this book, wait for those juicy twists. The main issue discussed in this book is bullying, and how it can scar people for life.
The setting of this book is very dark and gloomy, giving this book this cold and shadowy feeling. The writing style is pleasant to read, however, it has these Swedish place and street names which were kind of hard to read… (So I just skipped them) The chapters are a decent length and did not bore me. I really liked the suspense in this novel and I really loved the culmination as well. Even though there are clues of where it is headed and who the “Bad guy “ is, the reasoning behind it, was what really got my curiosity. So, to conclude, it was a very dark and intriguing read for me, filled with plot changing turns and very unique events. I do recommend to give this book a try if you have enough patience. It’s worth a wait, I think. Enjoy

Bookapotamus (289 KP) rated The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in Books
May 25, 2018
I really enjoyed The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, the story disgraced journalist, Mikael Blomkvist, hired to investigate a prominent Swedish family, the Vangers, and the mysterious disappearance/death of a little girl, Harriet Vanger, 40 years ago.
He ends up working with a young female hacker-extroardinaire who has SERIOUS emotional baggage, and together they uncover clues that the police missed all those years ago, and find out some pretty damning family secrets.
Lisbeth Salander is badass. I loved her in this - she is now a favorite female lead character of mine. Larsson developed her character so much that I'll be surely reading the other two books in this series to see how she progresses and comes out of her dark, exterior shell... but hopefully doesn't lose her edginess and fearlessness in the process.
Steig Larsson is pretty twisted and disturbed, and I'm pretty sure he was a misogynist. But, this book is genius and I think it deserves 5 Stars.
