The battle of Rorke's Drift, as told in the film Zulu, has gone down in history as a famous last stand, where a force of (roughly) 100 British soldiers held off over 10 times their number of Zulu warriors.

What's not so famous is the events immediately preceding said battle, where the Zulu warriors wiped out a force of British redcoats at the battle of Isandlwhana, after the British forces had invaded Zululand.

That's the focus of this film, showing the hubris and arrogance of the British High Command as they invaded in January 1879, believing the Zuls would be easy pray for a 'modern, sophisticated army'.

How wrong they were.

It's one of the worst defeats The British Army had ever suffered against an indigenous foe equipped with vastly inferior military technology.
