A teen comedy that is mildly entertaining in parts but with a pg-13/12 rating it lacks the punch of most other teen comedies recently like the American Pie films, Van Wilder etc. Young fun, good looking cast throw in some funny one liners, oddball characters and it's a passable 90min comedy.

Fun fact! I grew up in the town they filmed this movie in. The town was pissed when it came out because it was rated R. And no, I was not an extra because they wanted people to wear jackets when it was 100 degrees (F) outside.
Basically, this movie was a stereotypical late 90s teen movie, and was perfect fodder for Not Another Teen Movie. I definitely preferred Chris Evans' whipped cream bikini scene in that movie to the one in Varsity Blues.

Teen Spirit is another in a line of films that have come out lately about the rocky road to stardom, and there was potential for it to be able to say something different enough that it could have stood beside its competition proudly, but it fails to even merit a comparison.

Really not my cuppa tea way too much teen drama and too predictable.
The cliches just kept on coming, although if the whole high school teen drama is your bag I did find the writing better then some I've not bothered to make it to the end of. Not much in the way of a mystery though.
