Sarah (7798 KP) rated The Colour of Bee Larkham's Murder in Books

My problem with this book is that it drags and is far too drawn out. Whilst I found Jasper's story interesting and it was well written to a point, after a while it got a little boring because it dragged on for too long and I started to care a little less about the outcome. Which also wasn't helped by immensely disliking the character of Bee Larkham. It's a shame really, as this could have been a very good book if it had just been a bit shorter.

The end is great and oh the feelings! This story is so original, I truly loved it. I'm not giving anything away! You must read to find out!
Kim Holden is a new author, and her eye for story telling is amazing! I can't wait to read more from this new author. She has a great eye for description which brings her characters and setting to life! I can't wait to see what she has up her sleeve next.
David McK (3372 KP) rated The X-Files: Cold Cases in Books

And, frankly, I don't remember it being this explicit about the alien conspiracies, cover-ups, etc, etc …
More of a radio show than an audio book, this has David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson returning to their signature roles as Mulder and Scully respectively, alongside several other characters who 'died' in the series proper. It's also very 'episodic' - so was the TV show, alongside the larger occasional mythology episodes - although there is a narrative through-line throughout it all.
To be honest, I also found myself fast forwarding (or listening at sped-up speed) to large parts of it: I'm not sure whether it was the content, or because this misses a key component of the TV series (The visuals, and the lighting), but to me this was only OK: nothing in it that would make me want to rush out and purchase the sequel. A pity.
