Bleak but beautifully written
I bawled while reading this as a child, especially reading this horrendously bleak tale. Orphan Oliver Twist escapes a rundown orphanage and workhouse only to live in further poverty at the hands of a terrible thief, who exploits young children to do his bidding. Oliver, a very simple and innocent boy, moves from one place to another in order to survive the harsh streets of early 19th century England.

It literally is a never-ending saga of one horrific incident after another, highlighting Dickens' strong views about how children were treated during Victorian times. And while there is a bittersweet ending, it leaves you with a feeling of deep sadness for these lost children.

This game was a surprise. I thought it would terrible by the looks and first five minutes. It wasn't actually bad. It provided some sandbox elements, though they were lacking to be honest.

I loved the characters and their individual stories while the overall story was a little bland.

Combat was simple and intuitive, though a few tutorials would have helped a bit. I felt like I was figureing things out and then several bits later they would provided a tutorial. In the tutorial they showed me the easy way to do what I had already done.

Overall, it was good. One of kind really.

German Fairytale meet Sci/Fi
This is a beautiful show. It pulls you in with characters that have understandable flaws and tangible humanity, with just the right amount of time travel and nuclear power thrown in.

It's not Stranger Things, don't compare the two. The only similarity is missing kids, and it ends there.

Watch it, but be prepared to focus. The layers of story are artfully crafted, spanning three generations and each one is vital to the story. Also, be prepared to not understand everything. That's okay, let the story peel itself apart slowly and deliciously. Very excited to see where this show goes.

After reading The Martian and loving it, I was super excited to read this book. I got through Artemis really quickly, but I think it’s because I kept hoping for something interesting to happen.
The whole concept of a settlement on the moon is cool, and I enjoyed exploring that. The main character, Jazz, is not a very likable or relatable character. Her jokes weren’t funny and the way she interacted with other characters was boring. The other characters weren’t very memorable or well-developed. The heist scenario seemed promising, but really fell flat.
Honestly the book wasn’t terrible, but if you're expecting an awesome, scientific, space-life read like The Martian you’ll be disappointed.

A dark, sad story
Testament of Youth is one of those films that isn’t terrible, but it’s brilliant either. It’s just a good solid film. It has a great cast, especially Alicia Vikander, all of whom put on very good performances. It’s very strange to see Kit Harington in something other than Game of Thrones, and it takes a while to get used to this but he does very well. The script is good and the story itself is pretty sad and harrowing. Kind of what you’d expect with a romantic film based around the First World War, but it was still quite saddening and painful to watch. An all round good and intriguing film to watch.

Don't diddle dead things!
Me and the wife were watching 'the possession of Hannah Grace' and it reminded me of this 90s gem. Ewan McGregor takes a job as a night watchman at a morgue to pay for law school and it's obviously kinda freaky but then he begins to realise he's being implicated for a series of murders. Great psychological build ups and scares and great performances from josh brolin and Nick Nolte. The only real let down is Ewan McGregor and his terrible American accent which is so bad it's almost distracting. Most definitely worth a watch.

Greta (2019) is a dark urban feminist fairy tale masquerading as a B-movie potboiler.
Neil Jordan has taken the streets of New York City and turned them into the sinister forest of a dark urban fairy tale only this time, it’s the evil witch herself leaving the trail of breadcrumbs across the city – in the form of emerald green handbags – all the better to lure the unwary children to her home for (spiked) milk and cookies. It riffs on fairy tale tropes from Hansel and Gretel to Sleeping Beauty, with the magnificent (maleficent?) Isabelle Huppert weaving her terrible and terribly camp spell at the core of this poisoned Big Apple...

Ray Milland brings a touch of class to Roger Corman's horror-sci-fi fable. The same old story: brilliant scientist is consumed by his own hubris, experiments on himself and meets a sticky end as a result: after initially being able to look through paper and cloth, his vision develops until he can see through the fabric of the universe itself, beholding something enigmatically terrible.

Not exactly over-burdened with plot, but the script is effective, and Milland brings all his presence to the film (nice supporting performances too). Some striking special effects, especially as the film goes on; not sure the final shot of the film really does the business but the film is very watchable regardless.

I actually did not have any expectations for this novel when I received this book. I was a bit reluctant to read it after the slew of horrible young adult novels I always seem to find. While it was not terrible, I was not impressed.

I like Balog's easy style. It did not leave anything to the imagination unless she wanted it to and I loved how she captured her character's personalities so vividly. That does not mean I necessarily liked her characters.

I was also annoyed by how easily Morgan seemed to drift away from Cam and towards Pip. It is not completely unheard of, but it just seemed..odd considering the circumstance.

Tries too hard to be something innovative but just turns out terrible
What an abysmal film. Convoluted to the extreme with very little actual plot. The main aspect of the film surrounds a lonely housewife played by Jennifer Lawrence and her troubled poet husband (Javier Bardem), and their unexpected house guests. From the first moment, we see Lawrence's strange eccentricities, her clear connection with the house itself. The more the house is disturbed, the more she is troubled and vice versa.

The guests begin to behave more and more erratically, to the point of ridiculousness. I have to say, I hated this film. It just made me extremely angry. Baby cannibalism is just uncalled for.
