Awix (3310 KP) rated The Transporter (2002) in Movies
Feb 12, 2018 (Updated Feb 12, 2018)
Uproariously silly action movie which launched Jason Statham's career as a leading man in this sort of thing. Brilliant fights and chase sequences are strung together by some frankly very suspect dialogue scenes, comprising a rather hackneyed plot. No-one involved appears to be acting in their first language, which is a bit bemusing considering Jason Statham is English and Matt Schulze is an American.
This is on one level a terrible pile of nonsense, but also superbly entertaining as an unintentional comedy and a genuinely proficient action film. If you're playing the Transporter drinking game, award yourself an extra swig every time the logo of a well-known beer named after a snake appears, as they appear to have sponsored the production quite extensively.

Akward (448 KP) rated Terraforming Mars: Venus Next in Tabletop Games

Additional corporations are great
A Worthy First Expansion
Venus Next does exactly what an expansion should do: add more content, without changing the game. The expansion delivers more corporations and cards, and adds a few new mechanics.
The new cards are not over or under powered, but still manage to be different enough from the base cards. The new corporations are also balanced, and aren't terrible, like a few of the base ones.
I do wish terraforming Venus had more of an impact on the game. One of our favorite parts of Terraforming Mars is that you can win with virtually any strategy. Unfortunately, terraforming Venus does not appear to be a very viable strategy.

AT (1676 KP) rated Pokémon GO in Apps
Sep 2, 2018
Yes, people DO still play Pokemon Go! Lots of people! Check out any monthly community day, and you'll be surrounded by other Pokemon trainers, loving the game just as much as you will. It's an easy, fun game to play. The games tasks and Pokemon get updated often enough to keep you interested. There have been some issues that people have complained about after the last major update, but I haven't had them, and hopefully for those that have, they'll get updated and fixed soon. Nothing terrible, just a little annoying for this short bit of time. The game, itself, is great fun. Lots of Pokemon around to catch, and lots of goals and tasks to achieve. It's a really fun app!
Steve Fearon (84 KP) rated Insidious : The Last Key (2018) in Movies

Time to throw away the key for this franchise...
So wow we are onto the 4th film huh?
Oh its another prequel based off of the psychic woman...
This movie is lacklustre, not great on scares, adds little to the mythos other than a few more questions, and is just plain weak.
I don't really have a lot to say on this, I mean its not terrible...its watchable...the sidekicks are starting to really grate by this point...and all the best moments are essentially versions of moments from other Insidious movies.
Only watch if you are a big fan of the series!

KatyShubo (75 KP) rated Happy: Finding Joy in Every Day and Letting Go of Perfect in Books

Disappointingly not Happy
I’m glad I picked this up at a Charity Shop and didn’t pay full price (I now understand why I see this a lot in Charity Shops though)
I found this to be full of surface anecdotal bites filled with colourful pages.
I was expecting a journal, with spaces for the reader to explore notes within the texts but they were few and far between.
If you are genuinely looking for a guide on how to find or discover happiness then this is not the read for you.
I’m saddened that I had bought this for many people before I read this

Erika (17789 KP) rated The Devil Next Door in TV
Dec 7, 2019
When I saw this miniseries on Netflix, I was actually looking forward to it. I have read the Nazi Next Door, which featured this dude in the majority of the book. Since I had only read that book, from the perspective of the Nazi Hunters themselves, I was fairly sold that this dude was indeed Ivan the Terrible.
However, now, I'm not so sure. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't. Obviously, there's a possibility, but now I'm not sure. I do believe that the dude was at least a guard at a Nazi camp.
While this was interesting, towards the end, it grew repetitive. Which is always a death knell for me, and always causes me to rate items lower.
