There is a good mystery here, and I enjoyed seeing how Sam figured everything out. Unfortunately, there is just as much set up, introducing us to the people in Sam’s life and filling us in on her past. The result was a pace that was uneven. I did still enjoy it since I liked Sam and the supporting characters. We saw hints of the depths to the characters that I’m sure we’ll see more of in future books in the series. I was bothered by a cliché that several of the characters fell into, however, especially since it doesn’t fit one of the characters at all. The book ends with recipes for a suggested four-course casual dinner with friends. Overall, I enjoyed this virtual vacation debut.

The relentless pace of the film and the hit-rate of its stream of gags is hugely impressive; the film manages to make jokes at the expense of many aspects of modern life without seeming cynical or negative. However, the depiction of friendship is affecting, the emotional beats of the film are genuinely moving, and it's genuinely refreshing to see a film with such an upbeat vibe to it and a cast of characters who are all likeable. Anyone who has been a teenager will be able to relate to this; one of the funniest films of the year so far.

The culmination of over a decade of Marvel movies and a direct continuation of Infinity War, this is the film that wraps up what will more than likely become known as The Infinity Stones saga.
It's also quite hard ton discuss without giving anything away: while we all knew that time travel would be a part of the movie (especially given the introduction of the Time Stone in Dr Strange), that did not play out exactly as I thought it would.
Personally, I also thought it spent too long dealing with the effects of Thanos' snap: yes, wiping out half of life would have a profound impact on those left behind, but did we need to go through them all one-by-one? All that served to do, really (IMO) is make an already long film even longer!
A good film, yes, but - for me, at least - it never quite hits the height of the preceding Infinity War.

Sarah (126 KP) rated The Handmaid's Tale - Season 1 in TV

From the first episode, I've been completely hooked. Each installment reveals a little more of how the climate has changed and the situation that the characters find themself in has arisen - and yet, they don't seem to take the usual form of viewer insulting flashback or "so, what you're saying is" exposition. Even more so is the sense of how (especially if you have any idea of how the Nazis came to power in Germany) this could, in fact, happen.
My biggest criticism - I *really* dislike "the husband", Luke. He cheats on his first wife, and in his courtship of his mistress/second wife he just comes across as an utter sleazebag.
