2019 | Musical
As a man who has been through the musical theater ringer, I can confidently say that this is one of the worst things, if not the worst thing, that I have seen this year. It is incompetent at all of the aspects that set apart a musical from a normal film. The choreography is bland and uninspired, as it takes the most basic steps of ballet and refuses them to a nauseating degree. The singing on all parts is bone-chillingly awful, even for the people cast who can actually sing! The song to story ratio is obscenely high and doesn't give the audience any time to breathe whatsoever, especially my girlfriend who was in bewildered amazement and horror the entire time. As for aspects that fall under the actual filming aspect, the mocap is disgusting, the acting is subpar on all counts and the mess of a story resembles a poorly baked cookie just crumbling at the slightest breeze.

Thanks for ending the year off with a bang that we haven't seen since the Boston bombing.

Drags in the begining but picks up for a satisfying end
Everyone I know that went to see this movie said it was too long therefore they didn't like it. I do agree the length is unnecessary I didn't let that impact my overall outlook of the whole film. I liked what they did with the story it was well-adapted, well written, and shot beautifully. Every cast member brought a great element to the story as well as they all worked off of each other masterfully. Both Adult and kid versions of the characters did magnificent jobs portraying their respective characters. I do recommend Stephen King and overall horror fans to go see this movie or wait for it to come out on video if you prefer not sitting in the theater that long because it is worth watching. I especially thought each Pennywise scene amped in thrills in comparison to the first chapter. So my advice to those who want to see this sequel is make it through the beginning and you'll be surely satisfied.

Visually amazing (0 more)
Kind of long (0 more)
I just saw this in theaters and was amazed by the visual effects. I am slightly new to Dune (never read the book or saw the 80s movie. Although I have caught references to it because I'm a scifi and fantasy nerd). So I was mostly going in blind.
I did get confused with a few things that were happening I did eventually get enough that most of my questions got answers (and I figure those that didn't will be explained when I read the book).

The actors were great. And I found myself getting lost in the story on multiple occasions. On the times I thought the movie was dragging I'm not positive that it was completely the movie's fault as much as it being a combination of lack of knowledge on my part and the movie theater starting the movie late and playing a large amount of trailers beforehand, and usually when I thought this it was after a time i was confused.

I can't wait to see part two.

Shhh. You Make a Sound You Die.
These types of movies are never really my favorite. Most of the time the trailer is what makes me not want to see a movie. This time was a little bit different. I didn't really know what to think of this trailer, it wasn't really appealing but I thought I might be good. So I broke the trend and went to see it. This was a fantastic movie and it was written and directed by a guy would not normally associate with horror. .John Krasinski, most known for comedy and sometime drama, made me really like this movie.

This movie is about a world taken over by monsters that find and kill you by sound. Could you live in a world of silence? I don't think I could, but in a movie with almost no dialogue they did an amazing job. Now there was sign language, which I thought was very smart, otherwise facial expressions and body language was the words of this movie. The grown up actors were great. The kids actually did a very good job with this. Sometimes kids do not have the emotional range to be able to pull something like this off.

There are several this in this movie that are never really answered. One of them is where the monster came from. Not that it really matters but I kind of would like to know if they are aliens or just monsters that just showed up one day. I think they came from the upside down. They really do look like demogorgons from Stranger Thing. I thought this was kind of a cheat, but the way they act and kill was very original.

It wasn't a bloody or gorey movie, which was just fine. The suspense was done just right,. making you jump in just the right places. The other cool thing with this movie was, being that there was no dialogue for about the first 45 minutes the theater was creepy quiet. Like you could hear a pin drop.

If you can go see this movie, you will not be disappointed. You might also be afraid to talk or make a noise upon leaving the theater. Until next time, enjoy the show.
