Sammeh Lowry (15 KP) rated All the Bright Places in Books

"Sometimes there's beauty in the tough worlds - it's all in how you read them."
I found this difficult, not because it wasn't beautifully written and not because it wasn't a beautiful story but, because it was so close to home. Thought provoking, thought changing and a new way to look at things.
Finch is wonderfully messed up, Violet is damaged and confused. Together they mark disaster but it also brings out something all so remarkable.
“We are all alone, trapped in these bodies and our own minds, and whatever company we have in this life is only fleeting and superficial.”

Confusing at times
Time. Is it really what we think it is?
If you're looking for a gritty, action packed sci fi - this is not it. This is more of a thought provoking trope through the human concept of time. Our time is linear, we go from A to Z, birth to death, start to finish. This alien encounter twists that ideal into something that your mind may have trouble wrapping around and if you're into working out the finer details it's definitely worth watching a second time. Overall it's an interesting movie, however it is a little slow and at times can be tedious, it never had me on the edge of my chair or dying to know what happens next, however, it is a decent film. It doesn't go in my favourites list, nor is it something I'd watch again, but it is a thought provoking movie with interesting characters.
Intriguing and thought provoking
An interesting and intriguing story that not only entertains but is thought provoking.
The first few pages are pretty tame, I'll be honest they pulled me into a false sense of security but oh my was I was hit with a surprise! It definitely had me invested in Charlie Adamson, his development and role within the story.
Each page is expertly written to keep you hooked and waiting for more. Although a work of fiction there are many aspects that are either rooted in facts or at the very least have a glimmer of truth that keeps you thinking throughout.
This is one of the stories that once I've started reading I can't bare to put it down as I need to know what happens. Also, I'd be happy if it was made into a movie or series (with nothing removed please!)
I'd recommend for mature young adults onwards and definitely a great book club read, the discussions would be brilliant!

Awesome
There is nothing bad I can say about this game. It is the most emotional, thought-provoking, entertaining game around. I am a 30 year old man and it made me feel like a 15 year old girl. So many emotions and so much fun. I enjoyed it so much and am currently on my second play through, while playing Before the Storm, the prequel that was just released.

A contemplative zombie movie
It's been a long time since a 28 Days Later style zombie movie was out. It's more thought-provoking than an all out gorefest. The movie is watchable, although not my favourite genre. However, the acting was a little clunky. Only the slightly more polished actors Glenn Close and Paddy Considine really made a difference. Gemma Arterton is a pretty bad actress, she seemed robotic the entire time.

Good One
This sci-fi thriller was captivating. The acting and cinematography were great. The storyline played out beautifully with a few little twists and turns. An interesting take on a technological apocalypse. Id have liked to have seen a slightly different ending, but I get it. This one is a very thought provoking movie. Nothing the kids can't watch(though they may not understand it all). Overall a great movie. Really worth a watch!

Beautiful thought provoking book
This is not my usual genre of book, but I was gifted it as a friend believed I would find connections to the character who I could empathise with. This book demonstrates what kindness can do in a world where we are quick to dismiss others quirks and behaviours that are not in line with ours. Beautifully written, this book left me gagging to know what happened next.

This thought provoking drone strike thriller is a tense and exciting watch with some excellent work from Helen Mirren, Aaron Paul and the much missed Alan Rickman. I liked how the film satisfyingly explores the political, ethical and emotional implications of ending a human life thousands of miles away from behind a computer screen. It was quite disturbing and sadly very realistic to see politicians arguing over the positives of murder. Well worth checking out.
