Finding Nemo (2003)
Finding Nemo (2003)
2003 | Animation, Comedy, Family
One of Pixar’s best films, Finding Nemo features exquisite animation and beautiful vocal performances wrapped in a rich and emotionally engaging storyline. From vibrant coral reef to polluted city harbour, the use of different areas really helps the film come alive and also showcases just what humans are doing to our beautiful planet.

Followed up by a rather disappointing sequel, Finding Dory, in 2015, Nemo proves even more so today that less really is more. If you haven’t managed to catch this future classic yet, then do so as soon as you can. You won’t regret it.

Father of the Bride (1991)
Father of the Bride (1991)

It wouldn’t be a wedding article without some mention of Father of the Bride. Starring Steve Martin, this 1991 romantic comedy has become one of the classics of the genre, and it’s easy to see why. It’s a sweet, sentimental rom-com that oozes re-watch value. The wedding itself is just as classy, set in a beautiful church, with Kimberly Williams’ Annie wearing a simple lace gown. Plus, there’s always Steve Martin’s brilliant speech, which is sure to bring a smile to your face no matter how many times you pop the DVD in.

Aniston’s immediately recognisable accent works very well in animation and voice-over performances, but she hasn’t had as much success in this genre as perhaps you would’ve thought. Outside of the Storks and 1999’s The Iron Giant, she hasn’t ventured into animation at all.

Storks is a fun little movie that works well with its brilliant voice cast. Aniston plays an overprotective mother and while her role is slight, she plays it excellently. What works so well here is that we can almost here elements of her character in Friends as she converses with her children.

Bruce Almighty (2003)
Bruce Almighty (2003)
2003 | Comedy, Sci-Fi
Jim Carrey was on a winning streak in the late 90s and early 00s with films like Liar Liar, Me, Myself & Irene and of course Ace Ventura. However, perhaps my favourite of his works is Bruce Almighty. This genuinely funny comedy about a man who ends up being God was well received by critics and box-office dynamite.

Aniston plays Carrey’s wife, dealing with the strange goings on in their marriage and putting her husband straight in only a way Aniston can. It’s a classic of its time and repeat viewings only highlight how dreadful its successor, Evan Almighty actually was.

Grab the tissues, this one’s about to get upsetting. Marley & Me is a film that only animal lovers will understand and if you’re not an animal lover – why not? Released in 2008 to critical and commercial success, Marley & Me follows the life of one crazy Labrador: Marley and his family.

Aniston stars alongside Owen Wilson and gives a powerful and multi-faceted performance that is one of the best in her entire career. Aniston is a well-known animal lover and her emotion in this film is absolutely astounding. She plays the role with an understated brilliance that only she could.

Daybreakers (2009)
Daybreakers (2009)

Original Vampire Film
A very cool, unique and classy vampire film. It's 9 years from now and nearly everyone is a vampire. However with not so many humans around producing blood the vampires are starving and becoming more like mindless bat-like creatures. Is there a way to save both vampires and humans?
I really like the ideas behind the vampire world and how life and technology has adapted to their needs. A good cast, slick visual effects, some bloody scenes and a pretty good story that is more original than most, move this towards the top of the food-chain for Vampire films!

I wasn't sure how the author would be able to top the sense of suspense that came along with the weird mystery at the center of the first novel, but somehow he has done it. Even knowing the secret of what the town is, there is still plenty to discover about the things going on behind the scenes, and just how creepy they can get. The characters are still very engaging and the twists are still both plentiful and plausible, while the suspense keeps things moving along at a brisk pace. If you liked the 1st of the series, be sure to check this one out as well.

Maybe this book works for people who are interested in the Victorian era and are easily pleased by drab events happening to drab people on a drab landscape. For me, this book was beyond ridiculous!

Heath was the only character I liked, the one I wasn't supposed to like. He was the only character who had any redeeming features and who I actually had some feelings for. Cathy is just an over-the-top fruit loop with a stick up... well, where the sun don't shine. Yeah she didn't have the best upbringing or the best family but she didn't need to become so self righteous.

Dull, dull and dull.

Elvis tunes
This is by far my favorite Disney movie. It seems to be one of the last of their old style of animation, which is absolutely wonderful. The originality of the concept is top notch, and because of the way it was introduced the rest of the series doesn't feel like a lame Pokemon knockoff the way that many other super powered monster type series do.

Probably my favorite part though was that this movie is what really got me into Elvis when I was about 7 or 8 (it's gotten to the point where I actually went to Graceland about 8 years ago).

I am a completest with this podcast. I have listened through all of the available episodes twice. Even the original shows, though they had not nailed down the format yet, were excellent.

There is something about the connection between Walt, Bry and BQ that is unmistakably good and makes for great podcasting. Also, I don't know who I enjoy hearing going off on a rant more. Add to the connection the games, the contests and the side-hustle and you have a show that makes me laugh every time.
