Amanda (30 KP) rated Black Boy White School in Books

Black Boy White School was a book that I thoroughly enjoyed. For many people, they feel this not really belonging anywhere at some point in their life, just as our main character here did.
I was very sad at the end of the book because I was really hoping that he would continue at Belton Academy. However, due to financial problems, he was unable to return.
I would love to read a sequel to this book. Lots of interesting topics could be pursued, especially if he remains in Cleavland (such as how he deals with no longer fitting in, how he deals with violence, etc.)

This Netflix "teen drama" original isn't so original. It's basically a modern day "Fatal Attraction" (showing my age? Lol) with high schoolers. It wasn't too bad, though. The acting was decent enough and the cinematography is on par with many modern movies. Nothing too graphic in this but has some mild sexual content and violence. I found myself asking the same question I always do with movies like this.... Why aren't the characters a little more honest and a little smarter? Lol. Guess it wouldn't be very dramatic and definitely wouldn't last long enough to be a movie. Overall I'd say it's worth a watch if you can't find much else.

Intense sci-fi
This Netflix original is a good one. Once again Netflix comes through with an excellent story. Time travel is always a tough one to make work but they did in this intense action thriller. The characters were played well and the film work was extremely good. It takes place in one house/lab where a machine designed to generate limitless energy somehow loops time. The protagonists have to keep figuring out what to do in each loop to survive. The story unfolds beautifully and is full of twists and turns. Some violence but nothing gory- pretty family friendly. REALLY worth a watch!

This was one of the few book series that I obsessively read and instantly loved. The romance isn't fast paced, there's historical facts that are interesting, and Maniscalco really knew how to captivate not just me, but other readers too (I got my friend obsessed with this series as well).
I will say, its not for those who don't like the extreme detail on violence and gore, but if you're a fan of crime novels and topics such as Jack the Ripper, then you ought to love this book!
I'm so glad I found this book and would happily recommend this to many people.

A gripping read, but domestic violence, child abuse, incest, adultery, suicide, abduction, murder.... it did put you through the wringer a bit!
I felt it wasn't wrapped up as well as it could have been - some things left me feeling unsatisfied. A few inconsistencies - for example a character badly sprains or possibly breaks an ankle. This is a hindrance while it needs to be, but a few hours later it seems to be OK again.
If Olivia knew what she knew about her husband all along, I can't see why she didn't use it to her advantage earlier?
Gripping while it lasted, but I don't think I could read it again.
