"This 1948 film is a classic Italian neorealist film that takes place in post–World War II Italy. It is a beautifully told and photographed story about a close relationship between a father, Antonio, and his young son, Bruno, who idolizes his father. As the story opens, Antonio is desperately searching for work and finally gets a job posting signs. In order to do this job, he must have a bicycle. His wife, Maria, pawns her wedding sheets to buy him a bicycle, but it is stolen on the first day of his new job. The rest of the film, father and son pursue the thieves to get the bicycle back. They fail. In the end, Antonio is forced to steal a bicycle so he will not lose his job. Bruno witnesses this and Antonio is humiliated in front of his son. For me, the film was about the ultimate and heartbreaking betrayal of trust between a father and his son. I’ve always photographed families and family relationships. This wonderful film encouraged me to look beyond the surface and find the real relationships that exist between family members. The epic quality of the film was a great inspiration for me."

I picked this up after finishing the authors Hollywood Prince book a few months ago.

This starts with Zara at home getting a surprise visit from her boyfriend, only it's not a good surprise - he's come to dump her. A couple of weeks later, he's engaged to someone else and Zara decides to tweet his favourite hockey player and ask him to crash her ex's wedding with her. Surprising, he replies almost straight away, agreeing to do it.

I struggled to get into this from the start. I don't know if it was the influx of female characters near the beginning when i was struggling to figure out who was who and how everything related or something else but I wasn't feeling it at all.

I did like Evan's one track mind in his pursuit of Zara: flowers, cupcakes, other treats and calling her "Sweet Zara" all the time. Flying across the country to visit her, FaceTiming her whenever he could. It was very full on, equally stalker-like and sweet at the same time... But it wasn't enough for me to keep going with this.

I don't think I'll be picking up another book by this author for a while.

The Le Domas family fortune was made in the card game, board game, and gaming industry. Anyone wishing to join the family, particularly through marriage, must play a game on the night after the wedding. It can be any game, but chosen by an unseen entity, presumable Mr. Le Bail, the man who miraculously found fortune for the family. Some get checkers or canasta, others got Global Thermonuclear War or Hide-and-Seek. As anyone who's seen the trailer knows the newest bride chooses Hide-and-Seek, a grown-up version of The Most Dangerous Game where the ultra-rich hunt their prey. If Grace can survive the night, it is believed that the family will lose everything. Who can Grace trust to help her? The mother who seems to truly believe love will conquer the glares Grace gets? Grace's husband who tries to protect Grace, but will lose everything if Grace survives? Or will it be Daniel who is secretly in love with Grace and trapped in a loveless marriage to a heartless gold digging carp? Ready or Not is a great premise, but a hard movie to turn into gold. Someone would have to sell their soul and future heir's soul to the Devil to succeed.

So I read my first book by this author back in July, Catching Him--a Netgalley read. I liked it but wasn't blown away. So I decided to give this a go, too.

Fawn is running down the street, listening to her music--strangely with her eyes closed?--and bumps literally into Levi sending them sprawling onto the floor. There's an instant attraction but both ignore it and trade a few insults before heading in opposite directions. Only it turns out Levi is moving in across the hall from Fawn.

Before Fawn realises it, she's in a relationship with Levi and they are a cute couple, though Fawn is a little dumb at times. Well, I thought she was a little dumb, Levi thought she was cute in her cluelessness.

I do think the author is very good at writing Alpha males, but they're guys who care about their women and make it obvious they want them. I did like that about Levi.

Fawn's mum and dad made me laugh, mainly her mum with some of her crazy comments like "get yourself knocked up so you don't lose him" and "when's the wedding?"

One again, I liked it but I wasn't in love with the storyline or the characters.
