Bostonian916 (449 KP) rated Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019) in Movies

I feel like this movie was unapologetically thrashed by critics for things that it wasn't responsible for. That's not to say that the movie didn't have it's own issues, as all films do. But the vile hatred that it received for stories told decades ago was unwarranted and frankly disappointing.
Truthfully, there is enough going on in this movie that can be faulted that it didn't need to have old news rehashed (I'm talking to you weird Palpatine). But again, as a stand alone film it was quite good. And as the finale to the Skywalker saga, it did it's job.

Well, that's definitely going to stay with me for quite some time. There are definer some aspects of the ending of the Book of the Ancestors trilogy that my brain is still trying to compute, but the weird thing is, I don't see that as a negative as I might have done with another book or series. I think this is because everything in this series was so character driven I can't imagine it happening any other way. Mark Lawrence deftly skims not falling into clichés, which is so easy when it comes to ending a Saga. Absolutely brilliant! Bravo!

Fun, cozy, casual game
This was a very simple to learn, sometimes funny, sometimes weird, casual and cozy game. I'd compare it to Katamari, but instead of rolling up a big ball, you're sucking objects into a hole, which gets larger the more it collects. There is a bit of a puzzle aspect to it, and the story is really fun. These kinds of games are super satisfying to me! I played this recently using Xbox Gamepass so it may still be available on there. I just wish it were a bit longer, but otherwise I was impressed.

David McK (3425 KP) rated The Great Wall (2016) in Movies

Ah, right, so that's the real reason for the Great Wall of China.
It's to keep out those pesky Tao Tei monsters that attack every 60 years or so.
Staring Matt Damon, this is a somewhat so-so film that, despite an intriguing premise and some solid visuals (the colour-coded Chinese army), just never really connects at all. Personally, I don't think it helps that the CGI is also somewhat dodgy, while Mr Damon seems to be putting on some sort of weird Irish accent and has little to no spark with either a pre-Mandalorian Pedro Pascal or with Willem Dafoe.
