Amber (38 KP) rated Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017) in Movies

So good!
Contains spoilers, click to show
I’m someone who hates to sit through a movie again, but I’ve already seen this one twice! Just the scenery is beautiful to look at, but there are so many great parts of film. The re-entrance of Luke and Yoda is enough to warm any Star Wars fan’s heart. The connection between Rey and Kylo Ren is tense and exciting and ends powerfully! I hated how Leia got back onto the cruiser, however; it was weird and awkward. Finn wasn’t as lovable in this film, either. Other than those two things, this episode is AMAZING! Can’t wait for the next film!

A weird, but fantastic read!
Easily the weirdest book I've ever read (and I've read quite a few). A great book to read for those who want to know what it's like in the mind of someone who suffers from schizophrenia. Well written (so much so that even I as the reader had a hard time distinguishing between reality and fantasy). I would love to know what happened prior to the book (an unmentioned event seems relevant to the story). I will say that, despite having read this book, I'm still not entirely sure what happened (that may have been the point though). All in all, well done, Mr. Smith.

I loved absolutely everything about this memoir. Felicia Day perfectly bares her soul to anyone smart enough to pick up this treasure. At times raw and wildly hilarious, I've never related more to someone I've never met. Representation matters and I was more than happy to read this book based on Felicia alone but realizing early on that it catalogs a lot of her struggles with anxiety made it an even easier read. In many ways, this book shows just how down to earth and relatable Day is to the many people who love her and her work. I highly recommend giving You're Never Weird on the Internet (Almost) the chance it deserves and a place on your book shelf.

Maybe a more apt title for this film is 'Mission: Impossible-Murphy's Law'. Everything seems to go wrong.
Paula Patton was kind of awful in this, I just wanted her scenes to end. Her acting is eye-roll inducing.
The villain was practically non-existent, I felt like the film was more focused on the team. There's definitely nothing wrong with that.
I'm glad they made Simon Pegg part of the permanent(ish?) cast, because the rest of the characters take themselves too seriously.
Now, I don't particularly like Tom Cruise, because I'll never forget the weird Oprah couch-jumping thing. But, you have to give it to the dude when he does some crazy stunt work, I definitely respect the dude in that aspect.

I got more than halfway through this book when I just lost interest. I figured out Julien's 'secret' in the first ten pages, so that wasn't even that interesting. The plot wasn't intriguing to me and I just skimmed the rest to find out what happened. It's not that it was bad, but I just didn't connect with the book much.
By the way, what's up with Amalie having grey-blue rings around her brown eyes and silver-blue highlights in her brown hair? I think having one of those is odd enough but to have both her eyes and hair match...that's overkill. I think a gown in the story is a similar theme too. The author definitely had a weird thing going. ;P

Rather weird early Laurel and Hardy movie, another one from pre-bowler days when they were not yet officially a duo. Stan plays Chester Chaste, a cab driver who finds himself shanghaied onto a trans-Atlantic liner; Ollie plays the womanising Purser. Also on board are a female thief (Garvin) and her husband, a midget who disguises himself as a baby (Earle).
Has a manic, screwball sort of feeling to it, which sort of makes up for the fact there's probably a bit too much going on and Stan and Ollie don't spend enough time together on-screen. The various scenes of Laurel with Earle are quite good, though, and the film builds up to a decent climax. Bonkers enough to be good fun.

True Story
First published in 1979 – The Uninvited is the true story of an ordinary family living in South Wales who found themselves entangled in a series of unearthly encounters in 1977. At first the manifestations were minor. UFOs were sighted in the area, huge burnt patches were found in the fields, television sets and cars blew all of their wiring…but before long the Coombs family was visited by weird lights, huge white figures and a glowing disembodied hand. Their lives were disrupted and they were terrified by something unidentifiable and unimaginable. They were a focus for The Uninvited. For the first time in decades, the book has been revised and renewed with all new additional content and digitally enhanced photographs.

"Curiouser and curiouser!”
Alice in wonderland is one of those pieces of media that even if you've never read the book or heck even seen the movie you know it... It's just that legendary.
The book is one of those pieces that no matter your age you can enjoy it. As a kid it's this magical wonderland of talking animals, weird people, and a very angry queen.. And you wish you could stumble down a rabbit hole it fall through a looking glass to get to because it all just seems to wonderful. As an adult it's really no different. The book is just fun and memorable and honestly the story has stuck with me my whole life and will always stay close to my heart.

Building Defenses (2 more)
General style
Random game modes
Too many patches (2 more)
Weird gameplay aspects like riding rockets across the map
Still kind of Beta
Fun 100 player survival game
This is a very fun title with a good selection of game types and random ones appearing every other week as special modes.
The game is still kind of in its beta phase as the single player side of the game may only just have been released or still be on the way.
There are other games like this but with the rapid defence building and crazy gameplay this does stand out on its own.
I have not played the single player side of the game but will buy it soon and possibly update this review at that time.

Erika (17789 KP) rated Peter Rabbit (2018) in Movies

Disclaimer: I saw this movie on accident. I went to see Early Man, but the projectionist put the wrong movie in, then left. So, no one was able to change it over. Now, I just get to see Early Man for free tonight.
So, this movie is based solely on the illustrations of Peter Rabbit and his various friends from Beatrix Potter's children's books. The movie was amusing, and I laughed at it, as an adult, so I figure that's fairly impressive. The voice acting for all of the animals was great. I did think the difference in age between Rose Byrne and Domhnall Gleeson was a little off, I know there's only a 4 year difference, but it was just a little weird.
