I'm going to be upfront here. When I saw this available as an ebook for my Kindle, I was like "Hmmmm..", but then I was thinking "Greg Cox is quite good, but did I really want to read a prose adaptation of Snyder's Court of Owls story from BATMAN?". Reading users' reviews on here told me that it was not an adaptation, but an original tale involving Bats and yet another confrontation involving the Court of Owls. So, yup, I was sold on that point alone!

****

Cox does a brilliant job with Batman! Seriously, I wish he had been writing BATMAN instead of Tom King! The characterization is one that shows us the "I'm Batman!" version, as well as allowing us to see a side of him not always presented well in the comics of late: he has a human side, but he also has a dedication to see cases/mysteries through to the end, as it is what he feels he has to do for the city of Gotham, as well as her citizens. The great thing with the way Cox presented both sides was balanced, neither too much of one or the other.

I also quite liked how Cox returned to the Court of Owl's previous "lair", the one with that marbleized labyrinth and that huge marble owl statue in its center. Reading throughout, it really seemed as if Cox had spent more than enough time reading the source material, taking all of it in, and then presenting his addition to Batman's dealings with the Court of Owls. So, so brilliant!

And, while she was not in it as much as Bats, the little bit that Batgirl/Barbara Gordon appeared was spot on. Her dialogue interactions with Bats are tense, in relation to the case, as well as fun and playful, when the situation called for it. Again, just as his treatment of Batman's character, Cox presents us with a balanced Barbara Gordon, making her inclusion a welcome treat!

As much as I loved seeing both Bats and Barbara, I was equally invested in the supporting characters. No one felt like cardboard or trope-ish. Everyone had roles to play within the story, and the roles were played well and memorable, even after the book was finished! Definitely well appreciated of all the effort invested in both the main characters, as well as the not-so-main folks!

I don't know that this would be considered canonical as far as Batman and the Court of Owls, but it should be! The story flows well, offering an edgy, exciting adventure that succeeds in being memorable as well as being taken as canonical! Good stuff, folks, and one not to be missed! Unless, of course, you don't like Batman, and then, well, it would just be a lot of suck! Just sayin'..

I had high hopes for [The Dynamics of Disaster] since I love learning about how disasters impact our world. Although [Susan W. Kieffer] obviously knows her content and is passionate about it all the technical reading turned out to be a bit dry. I imagine the author would be a wonderful person to take a class from or work with the human wit does not transfer well to scientific information in text form.

That being said I would love to work with her on her CDC-PE idea.

This is only my 2nd Baldacci book and I must say I am hooked! This one has sisters as its main characters. Beth Perrywho happens to be D.C.'s cheif of police and her sister Mace who is a former cop, but just got out of prison. The characters are well developed and interesting without being over the top...a Baldacci hallmark. The plot was fast paced and unpredictable. The story was wrapped up nicely, but still leaves you wanting more, but in a good way.
Ireally look forward to delving further into Baldacci's works.

The first thought I have about this book is that it is a mystery that doesn't try too hard. The second thought would be that I can't believe I waited so long to discover Janet Evanovich & this series!!!
The characters are well developed & I found myself rooting for Stephanie Plum throughout the entire novel. She seems like someone you would want to know. She's funny & tough, but still manages to seem vulnerable without being all "girlie- girl." I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series!

I had heard a little about this book before I saw that it was being made into a movie. The concept seemed cute and was definitely a good read. I was not prepared for the amount of sadness that I would have while reading and every time Cameron described the aging of the dogs, I found myself petting mine and holding her closer. Well written and easily embraces the view point of a dog from beginning to end and back again. I think all dog lovers should read this but have a tissue handy.

This was my first manga....that being said it took me a bit to get used to how you have to read it. I was able to fly through it once I got the hang of it because this is one of my FAVORITE Disney movies. I really enjoyed the artwork as well. I think I would rather read manga in book form though. So I have the book to start a collection. I received an ARC copy from Netgalley for an honest review.

I enjoyed this interesting thriller after discovering it on Netflix. The brilliant Naomi Rapace is in great form as the bodyguard assigned to protect the daughter of a rich man whose company is bidding to buy land that is also being bid on buy another rival firm. Lots of action and plot twists make this well worth watching as the two of them must fight against the odds to uncover who is behind the conspiracy and assassination attempts on the girl.

Lots of fun!
I was a fan of the first Transformers movie, but they got a little too over the top after a while. This one brought the fun back. Interesting characters, cool effects and a decent storyline. I didn't even mind John Cena in this one(not a big fan). Everything played out well and I really enjoyed it being set in the 80s. The action was intense and not overdone like some of the other transformers movies. I highly recommend this one for the whole family. Worth a watch!

Quite funny
Surprisingly good
I thought the worst when I first saw this film was being made about the 70's cop show. I never saw the TV series but often these films are a let down.
So it was a nice surprise this was actually quite funny, had some good action scenes and felt like it had a decent budget. Nothing amazing but good enough for a nights viewing. Starring and Directed by Dax Shepard with a role for his wife Kristen Bell as well.

I do not really now how I feel about this book. Though I can feel about being afraid of something or for the Mel and Katie in their situation. But I did learned that you do need to let your burrens to the lord and let me guide you and do has is will. I have hoping and praying that he will bring that person to me as well. I do hope you read this series if you have not I would and then again either way I hope you enjoy it.
