I think the young adult fantasy storyline is good and it was entertaining with enough suspense to watch all the way through. (0 more)
The characters although not shallow need more development and perhaps expanded motivations (0 more)
I left wanting more, but not right away.

"Dark as fuck. And not what you think. Not quite a young adult book, but maybe. I don’t remember how this book came into my life, but I read it as a teenager and completely related to the discovery of Trauma In Suburbia."

"It was one of the most intense ways of getting into the adult world and I saw it when I was really young. I couldn’t believe that there were stories that were so close to reality. It felt like that, it felt very real."

You’d think the best Young Adult books of October would be scary reads, what with Halloween and all. And sure, there are frights. But the true monsters in this month’s most gripping reads are ordinary people.

Here are the Paste Magazine's top YA books this month:

Many of these novels feature characters at their worst and life situations at their most horrifying, so prepare to be unnerved and engaged by these tales.

The kick off to a young adult line of mystery novels featuring the Brig's granddaughter Lucy Wilson, this has the set-up feel of the Sarah Jane Adventures, with a slightly more adult tone. Not much more, as these are designed to be aimed at the younger set, but feel more Doctor Who in the peril thrown at our heroine. An enjoyable read that also manages to expand the Brig-verse. Highly recommended! For more, visit www.travelingthevortex.com

Fantastic young-adult adventure
In this book you follow Torak, a young boy, who develops an incredible relationship with a wolf pup. Together they go on an amazing adventure. Full of twists and turns. The author is extremely good at descriptive writing, as you read this you can really picture the scenes. This took me 2 days to read, that's how good it is.

Feel good book
This book is such a feel good book and is probably very relatable for a lot of young people, it shows how its okay to be different and that just because you stand out from a crowd doesn't mean you can't do the things that everyone else is doing. Dumplin' is a well written, relaxing and easy read for any young adult
