This is definitely not what I expected. I thought it was going to be a twisted story which it started off as (and I was quite excited), then it just turned into a sex book... sex is absolutely fine, but if you remove the sex from this book is there a story left??

This was a fairly solid YA vamp novel that's been on my Nook for years. I think I would have loved it had I read it 10 years ago.
There's an interesting vampire myth deviation, and the characters were fairly entertaining. I thought Rose was a little... well, a typical HS girl you'd find behind the bleachers, but, it seemed after a while, she just used it as a facade.
There were fairly typical HS situations, then within the last 50 pages, the story picked up with the action.
While I thought this book was fairly entertaining, I don't feel a hankering to pick up the next book in the series.
I feel like nowadays, this sort of YA is most likely obsolete to the audience, like Vampire Diaries.

I actually read the synopses of the other books/series, and I just can't deal with YA love situations anymore, and they distract me from the story. I may try to get a library copies of the next ones.

I agree, I read this series about 10 years ago and LOVED it, it was in the hype of vampires time. The fourth [i think] book was just an emotional heartbreak. But I definitely enjoyed the spin off series, Bloodlines, with Adrian and Sydney it was amazing, possibly because Adrian is my absolute favourite (: well I am now going to re read the Bloodlines series so thanks (:

So, here is what I thought. This was a very entertaining story. I think that the romance was too contrived. It is a young adult fiction, so I sort of expect that, but it doesn't mean that I should expect that. Collins could have done a better job on that. Also, I was hoping for a bit more development in certain areas, and a more "in your face" to the Capitol ending, but there are two more books, so I'm sure that will come later. The writing could have been more polished as well. Other than that, I really enjoyed it. It has themes of redemption, loyalty, and forgiveness, and being set in a culture of death, I think that this book is very relevant to today's society.

"I was a dancer, and this movie inspired me to become a dancer, I think. I grew up watching Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers films, and they really inspired me. I loved watching the big dance sequences in this film. Gene Kelly is phenomenal. I love that the film has fun looking into the transition from silence into sound in the movie world as well. It was a big challenge for a lot of actors to go from one to the other, and I think they have a really hilarious look at that transition. But also I think it’s these big dance numbers and big choreographed pieces with a hundred dancers on top of their game. You just wouldn’t see that anymore. You wouldn’t see sets like that either – the shots are just phenomenal."

"When I was in college, first year, I saw it and I really hadn’t been exposed to a lot of European filmmakers. It’s such a ‘film’ film. It wasn’t required viewing, it was just a film playing on campus and I hadn’t been interested in film before then. Nowadays people are deciding to get into film at age five when they’re sitting, watching the Oscars. I really didn’t come out of that culture — I was pretty much a John Wayne fan and that was it. Zabriskie Point was a time when I was in a lot of change and flux and these incredible visuals hit me like they had rearranged the organs in my body. The ending and the free-floating debris and everything is an image that burned itself in my consciousness."

"There is an embarrassing story flying around about me faking appendicitis when I was eleven years old. Sadly, it’s true. The upshot of the experience is that whilst I was in hospital my parents bought a beta VCR player. So on the way home after being released, we stopped at a very small garage (or gas station) which had a few shelves of movies. There were no video stores yet. We hired The Sound of Music for two weeks and I watched it repeatedly, several times a day, while I recovered. Needless to say, I know every word and love it dearly. I guess I love the way the family slowly embraces Maria. She has such a good heart, and it finds the perfect home. How do you solve a problem like Maria?!"

I have to say I am completely surprised by how good this book was. It was interesting but easy to follow & easy to read. I am not much on religion & I was engaged throughout the entire book. O'Reilly is a great writer & quite obviously did a great deal of research in putting this together. I am looking forward to reading his other novels.

Soooo cringey!
I mean the show is hilarious and I like it be how light hearted it is. Rebecca is basically a stalker, but by telling it from her point of view it's so comical. I love that it's so musical, I probably wouldn't watch it otherwise. It makes me cringe a lot, but I can't not watch.

Maybe it's just been a while since I've played a handheld gaming console, but this game is incredibly hard to control. I crash the wagon all of the time. I do wish it was just more like the original, or at least the more modern computer version.
I haven't beaten it yet, I always die of dysentery before I get there.
