Everything about this movie i love. The amimated, the visuals, the story, the songs, the charcters and so much more. It is both a halloween and christmas movie. It is not just one, but its both. Thats what i love. So lets talk about it...

The Plot: The film follows the misadventures of Jack Skellington, Halloweentown's beloved pumpkin king, who has become bored with the same annual routine of frightening people in the "real world." When Jack accidentally stumbles on Christmastown, all bright colors and warm spirits, he gets a new lease on life -- he plots to bring Christmas under his control by kidnapping Santa Claus and taking over the role. But Jack soon discovers even the best-laid plans of mice and skeleton men can go seriously awry.

Danny Elfman wrote the songs and score, and provided the singing voice of Jack.

The charcters are so memorable, you remember what their look like, what lines their say, who their are.

Even though Henry selick directed this film, it is Tim Burton's film. Everything about this movie is a Tim Burton film- the charcters, the setting, the story, the darkness and so much more. Makes this film a tim burton film. Its also called Tim Burtons: The Nightmare Before Christmas.

It is a classic animated fantasy stop motion horror film, that is loved by all. A must see film.

Lastly shout out to @LeftSideCut for getting the hints/clues for this review right.

Might be an idea to rewatch the Shining first (0 more)
I was a bit dubious about this sequel to The Shining. I didn't think Kubrick style was really something that could be reproduced. Luckily the film mainly does it's own thing but when it does call back to the original film I felt it did succeed.

I've seen some people complain abouy Rebecca Ferguson being wrong for the role of villain but I have to disagree. She does behave animated and feels less serious in some scenes but this does fit her character. She is powerful being that has lived longer than natural and feels she has little to fear, so it makes sense she would be overly confident and nonchalant.

Overall this film succeeds as a sequel. It gives us answers about what happened to the characters of the first film while having it's own plot and themes that connects to the original without relying on it too much. However some references may go over your head if you've not seen The Shining for a while.

It was a bit jarring to have people playing Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall but they did give it their all.

Doctor Sleep is a horror film that has more than just the usual jump scares. It's atmosphere and sense of foreboding are what truly sold me on it from the very beginning of the film. (I will never look at a shower curtain the same way again.)

398. Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey. A two hour long pitch meeting for a future Birds of Prey movie. Harley Quinn is probably the worst part about this movie, the character is super annoying. Right away you know you're in trouble, there is an animated beginning to tell how The Joker and her break up, then the movie begins and retells the tale of her breaking up with the Joker for another good portion of the movie. And because she's single, all the people she dicked over can now kill her. Gotham must be the training ground for the Galactic Empire's stormtroopers and bounty hunters, none can get the job done. To stay alive she agrees to help the crime boss Roman Sionis retrieve a diamond that was lost when it was pickpocketed on the street by a teen girl. Roman was a cool over the top character, but because the movie was so flat, his performance is muted. It depends on a lot of flashbacks, flash-sideways to fit all the other Birds of Prey characters. And the bean-bag assault on the police station was a cop out. Harley says a big FU to society, but even with the R-rating, that was definitely a PG13 sequence, reminiscent of the old 1960's Batman. Thanks for the blue lives matter public service announcement. Should have definitely included Phoenix's Joker in there, he probably would have shot her. Rosie Perez's Renee Montoya of course would have blown his head off afterwards, because she's awesome! Filmbufftim on FB

B Movie Fun!!
390. Doom: Annihilation. I put it on, the sole intention being to see if it was animated, roughly an hour and forty minutes later the movie ended. And I liked it a helluva lot better than the 2005 Urban/Johnson shitfest. This one obvi has the lower budget of the two, but in my opinion, they made it work. The CGI was minimal, and the creatures looked great for practical effects. I only recognized one of the actors, but again, for what this is, I thought the acting was pretty sweet. It has an Aliens meets Starship Troopers vibe to me, in a low budget way... On Earth scientists are working on a teleportation device to send people on up to the Martian moon of Phobos. But wouldn't you know it, something went wrong. It seems the quick trip through hyper space, the passengers may take a quick trip through a place that looks a lot like hell, or Mustafar, and may have picked up an extra passenger or two, oops. They are not friendly by the way, matter of fact they kind of just tear through everyone like toilet paper, but luckily there's a squad of Space Marines to help, or just become more food for the monsters from Hell. Is there a mad scientist involved? Um yea. So if you can handle the low budget-ness of it, it's a pretty cool sci fi flick. Screw the critics... Still staring at the cover photo, wondering if that's Frank still wearing his stupid bunny suit. Filmbufftim on FB
