Check.... Mate
Thought I'd check this out, pun intended. Heard very good things about this, everyone seems to be watching this. I was a bit dubious how a short series about a Chess prodigy would make interesting viewing. I happen to like Chess as well.
The story follows Beth a young girl sent to an orphanage and discovers a natural ability for Chess and an addiction.
The show is very stylish, with the 60's fashion, Cars and Music. Anya Taylor-Joy has a look that just grabs your attention with her striking red hair. It's interesting, especially if you do play yourself, although it does progress as you would expect.
You'll breeze through it in no time.

Gosh, I wanted this to be so much better than it was. One of the main reasons I wanted to see it was because it was one of Anton Yelchin's last movies. The music was definitely killer, and so was the fashion. Olivia Cook and Anya Taylor-Joy were great together. It was entertaining overall, I just had unrealistic expectations. RIP Anton <3

Thoroughbred For A New Generation
With its striking visuals and cleverly paced plot points, this modern day cat and mouse teen Crime Thriller will leave you speechless by the end credits. Anya Taylor-Joy's performance more than makes up for the film's weaker plot points as she brings a sense of vulnerability to the character that otherwise may have felt less memorable if portrayed by any other actress. As usual Olivia Cooke delivers a fabulously balanced performance mixed with dead pan that just makes sense given the subject matter. I feel this chic mystery will garner a cult following in the years to come and it rightly deserves so.
The Craggus (360 KP) rated Split (2016) in Movies

Split (2017) is, ironically, a slyly connective work from M Night Shyamalan #Review
Powered by a terrific set of performances from James McAvoy, the film manages to explore the fascinating dramatic potential of dissociative identity disorder without feeling sensational or exploitative. McAvoy finds ways beyond mere costume changes to make each personality a character in their own right, both through vocal versatility and tremendous physicality, aided by a vulnerable but determined turn from Anya Taylor-Joy (“The Witch”) as Casey, one of the kidnapped girls who hides a dark secret of her own...

Really didn't care for any of the other characters. Except Thomasin
While the idea was amazing the execution was really lacking.
The VVitch was one of those movies that everyone talked about just how amazing it was but for it it didn't live up to hype at all. You get very few and far between horror monets the rest of the movie is just nothing happening and by nothing I mean NOTHING.
Honestly when it comes down to it the fan theories about all the hidden meanings of the movie are much more interesting then the actual movie.

Not much X appeal
Put off watching this for a while after mainly bad reviews for it. It's definitely a bit strange for an X-Men film as it feels much like a teen horror. It reminded me of @The Ward (2010) as these mutants are held in a creepy looking hospital facility that's isolated.
Thankfully the cast does have some talent and Anya Taylor-Joy steals the light in her scenes.
Once past the slow and dull first half of the film it did pick up a bit for the finale. Most likely disappointing for X-Men fans but Horror fans might like it more.

A la Carte
A slightly odd quirky film that won't be to everyone's taste. From the trailer this looked something along the lines of @The Hunt (2020) or @Ready or Not (2019) where things turn left field quickly and a group has to try and survive. It's not quite like that.
A very upmarket restaurant in a remote location with a limited guest list turns out not quite to be the dining experience the guests expected. However a last minute addition to the guest list could turn things sour.
If you enjoy slightly odd films and can ignore a few plot developments which aren't very believable you could enjoy this offering.
