Make Me Whole (Isle of the Forgotten, #2.5) by Tiffany Roberts
Make Me Whole is the perfect little bridge novella between Make Me Hunger and Make Me Yours. It is a story involving Quil, who we met in the previous book, as he returns to the village and woman he left so many years before. Whilst he is there, he discovers that the villagers are dying of a plague caused by a necromancer. The bodies are placed upon a ship, but we don't yet know where they are going. This is an introduction to the next book, as the twins are mentioned.
For only a novella, there is still a lot going on, with plenty of action and a fast pace. It was very well written, with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt the reading flow. It also gives you more of an idea of the different Gods, and their meaning. With the Council and the Order in disarray, and betrayal coming from every direction, this is a brilliant addition to the series. Definitely recommended by me.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *

Alison Pink (7 KP) rated City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2) in Books
Jan 15, 2018
In the second installment of the Mortal Instruments series Clare weaves a tale of love and betrayal and I loved every second of it! This book picks up where the first left off...Clary's mother is still in a coma in a NY hospital. Clary is desperate to get her back, but she has been plunged headfirst into the world of Shadowhunters. Luke is still trying to protect her & Jace is still smolderingly sexy.
Valentine is still lurking in every shadow that surrounds Jace & Clary. He is slowly working his way into their lives. The climax of the book is a HUGE battle on Valentine's ship in the East River which pits some of the Clave against Valentine's demon army. Of course the consequences of the battle impact all involved, none as much as Simon, Clary, & Jace...a love triangle that may just outmatch that between Edward, Bella, & Jacob.
I have to say the ending leaves you hanging in such a way that if you don't already have Book 3 on your shelf, you will feel the compelling urge to go hunt it down & devour it before you even leave the bookstore. Fortunately for me, it is on my shelf & is calling my name!

The Cursed Kingdom by Maya Daniels
The Cursed Kingdom is a historical fantasy romance that will sweep you back to the days of Persia and Babylon. Full of outstanding descriptions, this story brings Alexander the Great to life, along with Bela obviously! In a deal made with Ishtar, Bela is bound to Babylon. However, when an army comes a'knocking, Bela's brother makes a mistake. This sets off a series of events that will change their lives forever.
I read this book in one sitting! It was so easy to keep on reading, with a smooth and flowing pace, and fantastic descriptions of people and places. With sexual tension, intrigue, betrayal, there was certainly enough here to keep me involved and engrossed.
I certainly have no hesitation in recommending either this story, or the author! The only thing I would say, is I wish I knew what happened to one of the characters at the end. Still, that's me being greedy!
Brilliant story ~ excellently told ~ highly recommended.

Love, loss, betrayal -- all in the time of Nazis
Elodie and Monique are rummaging through their family attic one day when they come across an old trunk full of letters and memorabilia. They find it all extremely interesting, so they start to peruse the trinkets. Little do they know this will set them on a whirlwind adventure through their family history, bringing to light that which has been hidden for decades.
I absolutely loved this story. It has so much information regarding World War II, and it really gets to the heart of what it was like for families during that time, especially those living in occupied France, such as the one featured. There are many issues expressed during the course of the novel, and not just those stemming for the occupation. It made for a very interesting read that I couldn't put down, and I love the format in which it's written: the story being told to an author in order to help Elodie write the book on her family.
I would recommend this to anyone who loves a good romp through history, especially the WWII era, as well as those who like intrigue, love stories, and just great stories.

Suspenseful, twisty, cannot put down
Emma and Cassandra were missing for 3 years. Some believed they were dead. Were the kidnapped? Murdered? Did they run away?
It starts out with a young Cassandra, Cass for short, telling about her mother and her older sister Emma. Her mother loved Cass more, and would often brush her hair and tell her how beautiful she was, while Emma was often denied love from her mother. Their mother would also ask them to tell her how beautiful she was. She needed to hear it frequently. They had a routine. When their parents split up, Emma told Cass to tell the courts they should live with their father and when she did, Emma did the opposite. Emma stood by her mother as a sort of betrayal to her sister. Now their mother loves Emma more and Cass is off to the side.
Cass tells about the day she disappeared, when she was 15, and her sister who also disappeared.
She was with Emma then, but now she's home. Alone. How is she going to tell people what really happened. She is very nervous. Has to get her story straight. What will people think? So where was Cass and What Happened To Emma?

Another fab book
Welcome to the latest Deadmen's Quest....
Valynda Moore was born cursed. So when she dies as the result of a spell gone wrong and is trapped in the body of a voodoo doll, she expects nothing else from her messed-up life. Until Thorn, leader of the Hellchasers, offers her a chance at redemption and a new life.
But nothing has ever gone her way, for the Malachai, the very beast she and her crew of Deadmen have sworn to keep locked away, has risen. And this time he's taken prisoners. Valynda must keep her wits about her or be denied her salvation and forced to watch as the entire world falls into the hands of absolute evil.
It's a demon-eat-demon world where the stakes have never been higher and either redemption or the ultimate betrayal waits for her At Death's Door
This is the end of this trilogy and I'm sad to see it finish. I love her books and the little touches she brings from her Dark hunter and Nick chronicles. Always a joy to see Simi make an appearance as well as Ash.
So this is ram packed with demon fights and well written sex scenes.
Highly recommended

Mumble Mumble Mumbe Part 1
Lets get all of the 80's action stars and throw them into a movie. Will Bruce and Arnold be in it, nope well for only 1min and 30secs. Yes you heard that correctly two of the biggest action stars only get 1min and 30sec screen time cameo with Sly. Making jokes and one-liners. So whats the plot then.
The Plot: A group of mercenaries is double-crossed during a mission and are approached by Church to overthrow the ruthless dictator of a South American country. It isn't long before the men realise things aren't quite as they appear, finding themselves caught in a dangerous web of betrayal. Although their mission is compromised and an innocent is in danger, soldier of fortune Barney and his comrades decide to get the job done.
Also the charcter names are really weird but intresting and predictable. Like Lee Christmas, Gunner Jensen, Yin Yang, Hale Caesar, Toll Road, Toll and Mr. Church.
All of 80's stars are here like Dolph Lundren who, ohh the russian guy from rocky 4 and Randy Couture who, oh a retired MMA fighting.
Its a funny, action movie and will have a good time watching.
