Merissa (13816 KP) rated Carnal Knowledge (A Deadly Sins Novel #2) in Books
Aug 13, 2020
Carnal Knowledge is the second book in the Deadly Sins series but it can be read as a standalone, as I did.
This is a suspenseful and paranoid book, making the reader wonder who the killer is at every turn. It could be a multitude of people but you are kept guessing until the end. I thought I had it right but was confused about a certain issue, although that was sorted out in the end.
The characters are all sympathetic to the issues our main female is going through but you just can't help the suspicion that blooms. The situations and attitudes that arise in this book are all too believable which make this a brilliant and horrible book to read.
This book is present tense, written by Wren, which gives you the perfect insight into what is going on with her. If you like tense, suspenseful, and sometimes, shocking thrillers, then I have no hesitation in recommending it to you. Absolutely brilliant.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Blazing Minds (92 KP) rated Wild Rose (2018) in Movies
Nov 1, 2021 (Updated Nov 3, 2021)
Right from the very start of Wild Rose I had the same feeling that I had for the brilliant A Star is Born with Lady GaGa and Bradley Cooper, the opening music for Wild Rose just has you ready for a film that you know is going to be a well made and produced British made movie and it is.
Julie Walters is brilliant as Rose’s mother her Scottish accent is nicely done and you can see from her performance why she is one the best British actresses that we have around at the moment, her on-screen presence with Jessie Buckley certainly brings across the rocky mother and daughter relationship.
Jessie Buckley comes across very well as the down-trodden mother that only wants her dream to come true and head over to Nashville to sing Country, she puts on a great performance as Rose-Lynn, at first you get the feeling that you aren’t going to like the foul-mouthed “Wild Rose“, but as the mother progresses and you see that there is so much more to just wanting to sing.

Merissa (13816 KP) rated Burn Baby Burn (Fairytales of the Myth #1) in Books
Jan 27, 2021 (Updated Aug 7, 2023)
BURN BABY BURN is the first novella in the Fairytales of the Myth series and there is no easing gently into this series. Oh no! Instead, we jump straight into the action with children fighting, followed by 'real' fighting, slaves, abuse, you name it.
Ella has put up with more than any person should, but her childhood enemy turned friend, Cadeyrn, got her through. When she feels he has betrayed her though, all bets are off and she turns to a pact with the Dark Fae, Daman.
I thoroughly enjoyed being with Ella in this novella. Seeing things from her perspective, and feeling her pain, it was a brilliant read. The only thing I wasn't sure of was the ending with Delentia. I couldn't quite get my head around what she actually wanted.
Nevertheless, this was a brilliant read that I have no hesitation in recommending.

Ross (3284 KP) rated Spy (2015) in Movies
Nov 20, 2017
What a great laugh. Where other spy spoof films have focused too much on the comedy and not bothered with a decent story, this feels more like a decent spy film with a good amount of comedy injected in.
Jude Law plays pretty much every role he has ever played, as does Jason Statham - to hilarious results.
Peter Serafinowicz is great as an Italian sex pest (like a young Berlusconi).
Melissa McCarthy is simply brilliant in this film, at times soft and sensitive, then hard and uncompromising.
Even Miranda Hart doesn't manage to spoil it!

A great way to gain weight from cheese
This is by no means a bad film in fact it's a very good film, with stellar performances from the young cast the only thing that let's it down is the over the top mushiness from the main adult stars ,I left the cinema feeling like I gain 2 stone from all the cheese ,again not as good as the book but it was well worth the hr and half to watch it

Brilliant
I haven't seen series 1 but i did see series 2 which I thought was pretty good, this prompted me to watch series 3. Well it was amazing, finally a set of writers that can write a good ending to a series (after the disappointment of Liar and Dr Foster). I was not expecting what happened at the end. I didn't always quite understand why the perpetrators were doing what they were doing, nor why they made Karl make a choice at the end but it was still gripping.

Ground breaking Sfx (3 more)
Cool costumes
Great cast
Fight choreography
I'll show you how deep the Rabbit hole goes
I saw this in the cinema and was blown away. The Sfx from the Cgi, green screen and other techniques used raised the bar by a mile. Add to that the outfits, fight scenes and use of Asian cinema wire rigs, the camera angles, cinematography, the Music and a brilliant story. Make this one very cool slick film and treated us to something totally new. Currently my favourite of all time!

Absolutely Brilliant
I remember three cartoon from years ago and I loved that so thought well if can only be as good or worse. I was wrong it was better!! If you like Disney films then put this one on your watch list and you won't be disappointed at all. Not ashamed to admit that this film was amazing. From a start to finish I sang along to all the songs with only a few minor changes to them. In short if you liked the original Cartoon film you will love this version.
