Verdict: Instant Classic
Story: Starship Troopers starts in a world where humans are not at war with a bug planet across the galaxy, students and young people are expected to join the federal service to become citizens. Johnny Rico (Can Dien), Dizzy (Meyer), Carl (Harris) and Carmen (Richards) all have their sights set on enlisting, Johnny and Dizzy are mobile infantry, while Carmen has bigger sights of being a pilot and Carl has his sights set on military intelligence, with his mind reading ability.
While Rico is going through his training and constant battles with the flashy Ace (Busey) battling for squad leader, Carmen is flourishing in the flight academy, but this is just training, now they must go into combat against the giant deadly bugs.
Thoughts on Starship Troopers
Characters – Johnny Rico comes from a wealthy family that want to send him to Harvard, but he has other plans, he wants to become a citizen, which means he must join the military, here he excels in training until a mistakes sees him disgraced. He loses his family and will remaining fighting under a new squad leader, proving himself as one of the best soldiers in the infantry. Dizzy has spent her school life crushing over Rico, she follows him to mobile infantry, proving herself as one of the best soldiers. Carmen is the girlfriend of Johnny’s through school, she has set her sights on becoming a pilot in the Starfleet, something her grades could make easy for her, she proves an asset to the fleet rising up the ranks with ease. Ace is the rival of Rico’s in training, they both want squad leader and with the rivalry they become brothers in arms.
Performances – Casper Van Dien in the leading role makes himself remember forever with his character, this will define his career without question. Dina Meyer shines too, while this cast is fantastic and understands just what movie they are in. Denise Richard has been criticised before, but here she works in the modern future world and Jake Busey add more comedy as times to his role.
Story – The story here takes us to the future where humans are waged in a war with bugs from across the galaxy, we see how the soldiers and pilots are dealing with the increasing threat they are going to be facing. This story does present itself in a satirical look at the military behaviour and how it can become a propaganda machine forcing young people into joining under false promises, it also shows how humans will always look to conquer another area no matter how outnumbered or out of place they are in their invasion behaviour. Plenty of this story over accentuates the idea of what is going on, which will add moments of comedy.
Action/Sci-Fi – The action in the film is war style military attacks with laser bullets flying literally everywhere and the bugs ripping bodies apart. The sci-fi side of the film shows us just how far the human race has come with transportation across the galaxy, despite not giving them the brains when it comes to war.
Settings – The world created is fantastic with Earth looking futuristic without being all that different, while the bug planet feels like a battleground.
Special Effects – The effects in the film are also flawless, with a mix of practical and CGI which barely look like they have dated even after being over 20 years old.
Scene of the Movie – The first battle shows the scale of the war.
That Moment That Annoyed Me – Nothing really.
Final Thoughts – This is one of the best sci-fi films you will see, it is wildly over the top and doesn’t miss a beat with style that knows just what the film is meant to be.
Overall: Fun, Brilliant and Entertaining.

I've only recently started playing Fortnite (the battle royal version), and I have a very love/hate relationship with it. Fortnite itself is a fairly balanced game, when Epic Games nerf some of the weapons (like the most recent guided missile launcher), and if you have friends to go into a squad or a duo with, then it's totally worth doing. Fortnite has proved it's reputation as it's managed to best PUBG, with the amount of players on it. Generally speaking I think that as long as Epic Games constantly update it, make sure to patch the bugs, and add new features (whether that's new maps, or items) it will stay a pretty popular game.
My personal opinion is that it's good at times and bad other times.
When you are in a game with a squad, and you finally get to the end, and win, it's the best feeling. It's so relieving to know that all your time put into that game has in the end managed to get you to win (especially when you win a solo match). However if you're not willing to dedicate your time learning the mechanics, and playing casually, these wins don't come as often as you'd like.
As I said before, Fortnite is a fairly balanced game, but there are some issues that always need fixing. For example, new weapons introduced often have to be nerfed. Whenever they release a new update, there's often bugs that follow, like building issues, inventory issues and various other problems. And the microtransactions.
In the game you can (optionally) buy the "battle pass", or various skins, or emotes, or pickaxes that the game has to offer.
And the game forcibly encourages you to do this. The battle pass gives you some sense of achievement in the game, by completing the challenges you are awarded with new skins, emotes etc.
But the late players of the game that buy the battle pass are unable to complete the challenges in time, in a ten week season, to be able to unlock everything.
On top of this, it feels almost redundant when you rank up the battle pass week by week, and someone pays like £40/£50, to unlock the last skin in the game.
Although these are totally optional, I feel without the battle pass I probably wouldn't play.
Overall I would say Fortnite will always be a popular game and has quite a large audience for a range of different people.
I do recommend playing it, if you have a spare couple of hours, and it's free to play so you don't have to pay for it.

Wow! Let me begin by saying that I don't often recommend a book on my Facebook status, but for this 1 I did! Yes, it was that good!
The characters are all so well written & so incredibly believable...they could be your next door neighbor, your friend, or you. The plot was so real & emotional without being preachy or cheesy. I compare it to a Jodi Piccoult work minus the hidden social agenda that sometimes bugs me with her work.
This book tells the story of a thirty something TV producer woman names Marian. At the same time it is also told from the viewpoint of 18 year old Kirby. Their lives are separate, until a chance knock on a swanky, Manhattan penthouse door. The story follows both women through their journey by alternating chapters. Sounds confusing, but it flows together seamlessly. The stories follow in order, just alternate from each of their points of view. I hate to say more for fear of ruining the plot for someone who might chance upon this review. (I hate when that happens to me!!)
If you want to know more, go get the book! It will be worth your time & $$...TRUST ME!

The Bees is the most unique book I have read in my life. I can't say that I have read a book that was completely about bugs. It reminded me a lot of Bee Movie.
Flora 717 is at the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to bee culture. She is a sanitation worker. It's her job and the job of the other floras to keep the hive in tiptop condition. But, there is something special about Flora 717. She is bigger than others in her group and she is pulled aside for more assignments besides cleaning. When Flora is taken to meet the Queen, she finds out more and more about the hive she lives in and about the lives of past and future colonies. Flora breaks some rules in good ways and in bad, but throughout it all she must survive!
The Bees in most interesting. Even though it was about bees, I wanted to know what was going to happen next and how Flora was going to handle every situation. I learned a lot more about bees than I may ever want or need to know, but it's cool to get a glimpse into their world.

A flawed launch...
When I started playing this fourth installment in the Mass Effect franchise, I was struck by some of the daring departures from the original trilogy's gameplay. The ability to choose your hero(ine)'s role based on situation. The hub system for worlds that was more reminiscent of Dragon Age: Inquisition than ME. The departure from the truly galactic scale of Commander Shepard's battle against the Reapers to focus on a seemingly weaker adversary.
I was fortunate to avoid most of the initial bugs in the animation, but was disappointed in the limited exploration available. While I liked the Angara, they couldn't get me to care about them as much as the original games caused me to care about the Quarians and Krogan.
I was tickled by the interactions between the members of the cast, which were dynamic and as detailed as the crew of the Normandy's had been. In the end, it was the team supporting the Pathfinder that sold me on the game, and kept me going to the madcap pell-mell race to the ending.
Yes, it was rushed. Yes, it felt incomplete. But a mediocre installment in the Mass Effect universe still is better than the majority of RPGs out there.

Spookily good fun
I first watched Supernatural when it first started, got as far as series 5 and then just never managed to catch up. I decided to start again and I’m glad i did, I’d forgotten just how fun this show was.
As an premise, this is a wonderful idea and a great way of creating a story around a host of legendary supernatural beings. The main highlight of this show though is by far the relationship between the brothers. It’s downright hilarious at times and Jensen Ackles has some brilliant moments as Dean. But there’s also a serious side to the brothers too, and this works well alongside the scares and humour. Don’t get me wrong, the show isn’t perfect. The CGI in these early days is pretty horrendous at times, and some of the storylines are a bit cliched with nearly every one having an attractive woman for the brothers to work with/save. Some of the script is a tad cheesy too, but fortunately this show is that good that these slight issues don’t really make any difference. There are a couple of dodgy episodes, namely Bugs and Route 666, but the rest make for a highly enjoyable show.
