Susannah comes down with a mystery illness, first she has flu like symptoms and it is mistaken for being hung over, but once the seizures, paranoia and change of personality kicks in, her parents know something is seriously wrong and demand she is admitted to hospital where she will stay until doctors can find out what's wrong.
Before watching this movie I had never heard of Susannah Cahalan nor her illness. I thoroughly enjoyed it though, it was interesting and highlighted the reality that some things can be misdiagnosed so many times before getting to the bottom of things. I did feel the ending was a bit rushed though, it would have been interesting to watch her recovery and how her family coped with that but I guess that would made the movie too long.
I've enjoyed watching chloe grace moretz movies since the Carrie remake and each time she betters herself, she played Susannah very well and made it feel very real. A must watch movie.

"The Shining. I’m a huge horror fan, classic horror specifically, and there’s just something about them. Carrie, The Shining, Rosemary’s Baby. They’re horrifying, and they’re definitely frightening, but they’re also elegant, and they also show patience. And they’re also discreet in certain ways. When the horror comes, they’ve set it up so that there’s more of a payoff, because what’s come before has been executed in such a way that it doesn’t feel like… You know, you watch a horror movie that’s produced today, and they’re trying to scare you or freak you out, or they’ve got cats jumping out of the cupboards in the first five minutes. There’s no gradual build-up; it’s as though they don’t trust that the audience is going to hang in there and wait for the impact coming sixty or ninety minutes into the movie. They want to give it to you in the first ten minutes, which I think is kind of shoddy storytelling, and disrespectful to the audience."

"Just because I’m a huge Star Wars fan, and that movie really took the movie into a turn that set up the last movie. And the big surprises and everything that happen in the movie were really kind of revolutionary. And I just love sci-fi films, so Star Wars had to be on this list. And what’s so cool about it is I went to the 30th anniversary premiere — and I had just watched them — so I had brought an old VHS tape of that movie to the premiere, and I got Harrison Ford to sign it for me, which is really, really cool. And Billy Dee Williams was in an episode of Modern Family, and I got him to sign that VHS as well. So now all I really need to get is Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher to complete the actors in that movie. It’s one of my prized possessions."
